I don't know about the screw but as for the holder both Sureflow and GS2 are tight and I've to place a paper towle over it and tap it in/out with a hammer. In doing so I've some slight den o the holder and PH but it's only cosmetic.

Received the order last night. The holder kinds of too tight, requires lost of force to insert. Wonder that the little screw inside the handle is stainless screw? Anybody know?

Take some sand paper and sand the mounts down til they fit better. That's what I did to both of mine and they slide in smooth as butter now.

dhnguyen have you received the replacement props for the sureflow yet ? what do you think of it ?

I did and they did make a big improvement on the noise. That siad though I still think the GS2 props are quieter. Maybe a bit more time running will help the new Sureflow props.

Is the mfgr replacing props on the sureflow or are you guys modding with hobby props? If mfgr: Can someone PM me the info? Thanks.

Good news for AquaController Jr. owners; there is a wavemaker function on the controller. This plus the fishing line trick will hopefully give me some alternating currents:

WaveMaker

Each pump to be controlled can either have a random or fixed time period. Both the on and off times are fully programmable and can range from 1 minute to 4 hours in 1 minute increments. Up to 12 pumps can be controlled by one base unit. Soft start for pumps is available when the Jr is used with the Direct Connect 8. Soft start reduces wear and tear on pumps and results in noticeably quieter start up for most powerheads.

Wow - just emailed Matt and got a response back in 3 mins. The magnet mounts should be ready by the end of the month.

Also, I don't remember seeing this the other day, but now you can get a Gulf Stream II Medium and High Flow Bundle f/24.95. Nice option if you are unsure if you want 1600gph or 2000gph or if you know you will be upgrading to a larger tank.

I did. BTW, the magnet bracket is so expensive. Will it work if we use the marine expoxy glue to a piece of metal on the bracket then use the regular magnet from the outside?

Uh, ferrous/magnetic metal will rust in the saltwater. Unless you seal it in, say, epoxy.

If you're going to go to that kind of trouble you might as well buy a pair of the magnets described by D in first page or two of this thread for ten bux (ish).

In the Neptune forum here on RC...........

basically you have either the RND or OSC commands.

RND = random on & off
OSC = timed, specific

Example:

OSC PMP1 10/10 ON/OFF THEN PMP1 ON

Gives a 10 minute on/off cycle for a powerhead.

You can download the owner's manual for the AC JR at http://www.neptunesys.com . Support -> downloads -> choose model

thanks, i see how to do the normal wave maker function, i can't find the soft start feature tho.

Soft start in terms of controllers doesn't really apply. The poster mentions but it's not like the Tunze where is spools up to speed.

"Soft start" simply limits the inrush current, it's done in milli-seconds & not at all like the spool up done by the Tunze stuff.

It's like turning on a faucet by pushing open as opposed to tossing open a gate. It might affect high draw pumps of devices but a maxi's tiny little draw it won't matter.

FWIW - the Neptune controllers have it by default, nothing to set (though as mentioned it's so small it may not kick in)

Mine are dead quiet, so maybe once it slimmed up it will be better. How is the flow though, is it about the same with the G2 ?

thanks for explaning. i was hoping that it just turned the pump speed down, not completely off.

Sorry, that's a no. I'm not certain but I think the Seio controller can as do the Tunze units - neither are cheap. It's not really simple to turn down the speed on AC motors.
