Maxspect LED owners!!!

Thinking about a G1 60 for an Elos tank. What do you guys think about that units ability to keep SPS in such a small tank?

Has anyone added optics to their units yet?

I purchased on 60 degree optics to try, but haven't had an opportunity to install them yet.

I note there is an artical on another forum indicating Maxspect is about to release optic upgrades for the G2...

Google "G2 maxspect lenses" and you'll find it.

I'm looking for a maxspect for my 80 gallon bowfront. Any suggestions?

Also, how is Fish Street.com? Is it reliable? It seems to be much cheaper than the rest.

I have a question.

I have a 20 high tank and i'm looking to upgrade to LEDs, preferably premade thus this thread!

Would the G1 60w be too much for a 20h?

Thank you for the awesome thread and the opportunity to ask this!

That all depends on what you want to keep. I have two 160w on a 24 deep tank. It has sps, lps, softies and clams. I have found that the softies tend to keep to the caves and shadows which helps keep the morphs in check.

Did you adjust the clock or timer right before this happened? It had happened to me a couple times right after I adjusted something.

This is what I read from RB:

The G2 MaxSpect is already a pretty impressive light but now it's about to get a whole lot more interesting with a kit to add lens or reflector optics for five different fixtures. The power-up starts with a single reflector sheet which will fit the 60, 160, 110, 170 and 230 watt versions. The base reflector will collimnate the light from the native 120 degree distribution to a spread of about 90 degrees. These reflector "œcups" also serve double duty as holders for a range of lenses to suit your taste; the lenses are all sixty degrees but they can be had in a clear, waffled or striped diffuser pattern depending on your preference.

The G2 MaxSpect reflector sheet will ship with clear lenses for each reflector cup and they'll run $60 for the G2 60, $90 for the G2 110/160 and $130 for the G2 170/230 watt fixtures. The MaxSpect lenses will sell for $3 for the three watt LED and $6 for the 30 watt multichip LED. These lenses are custom made to sit nicely in the reflector cups but we doubt it will take too much effort to DIY some off the shelf lenses into it. Furthermore, the G2 MaxSpect LED lights recently experienced a substantial price reduction which basically amounts to throwing in the entire kit of optics for the previous price.

When I first bought my 160 the blue lights where not working at all, since it was fairly easy I took the light and balast apart and just tightened all the connections and it miraculously started working.

If that doesn't work try contacting the people/place where you bought it from. I have heard pretty decent feedback about warranty repair from HK.

Good luck with it...

Yes, as seen in the photos. In addition to delivering more PAR deeper in the tank (if needed), it enables you to hang the lights higher with less spillage outside of the tank.

So how much higher does it let you hang them and do you loose par rating the higher they go?

I wonder if they make color reflector lenses so you can put them over the white LEDs for a more customized look? If they do, no more complaint of too white or too yellow:bounce2:
