Maxspect LED owners!!!

Hey all, i have a g1 110w and right now it has a more whiteish 10k look, and im wanting it more blue to bring the colors of my sps out more. What do you all recommend? Was looking at the led buld replacements and the op lens kit. Have no idea where to go from here. Cree royal? Red? Green? Where do i place these if i add other colors?

I have 4 G2 160w fixtures and I have worked with Chris, during the past year he helped send me the correct parts to repair 3 of the 4 units. I had fan failure, Blue LEDs burned out, control module burned out and a few other component failures. Considering he did not build or design the fixtures initially I think they are doing a good job trying to help us with fixing the collateral damages.

With that said, I have what look like a small capacitor burned out again....
 
I am getting a G2 170W,for my 75gallon rimless.I am hopeing this will be enough light to keep sps and lps.Will be hanging it about 9'' or 10'' above the water.Would like your thoughts on this.I am new to leds.The tank currently has 2 250w 20k hqi. Thanks.

I never did receive the part as promised nor did I want to spend any more of my time and energy to pursue it. I went ahead and bought a Vertex Illumina, and I cannot be happier.
 
I'm looking at the Razor fixture for my new tank build, but have some concerns regarding the last few pages of this thread and hearing about the burnt out LEDs of the Maxspect fixtures (other models but same company) ...It does look like the issue is related to the 30w LEDs and also the SEMIleds, but are more people having good luck with these fixtures?

What intensity? Just bought Mazarra S Series Triple Module

Hi, I just bought the Mazarra S triple module for my 58 gallon 36x18x19.5. SaltySupply had the triple with 3 lights, hanging kit, and 2 power supplies for 794.00. This seemed like a good deal to me since these sold for twice that 12 months ago.

I know they aren't as full spectrum as the 'p' or 'x' but at 1/2 the price I can easily create a DIY led bar to supplement the other colors (with a lot more flexibility) and still save money.

I need to know how to high to hang these and what intensity to start out to avoid burring my corals. I have a mix reef with SPS high and low in the tank, LPS low, and a few anemones high up in the tank. I currently run a 250W MH single 6 inches above the water with a good reflector.

I really like the idea of hanging these high (hanging kit) (+18in) with the 40 degree optics. However, I may go with the 60 or 90 and hanging them lower to get better spread.

What do you guys suggest? What intensity should I start with and how quickly should I ramp it up? Start out at 0 ramp to 60% for 6 hours and then back down? From there increase 5% a week until I'm at 100%?

ok since there hasnt been much talk on the subject am I able to buy any 3w blue LED and solder the connector on them..are they interchangeable or what...also it looks like the UV leds have melted at the top of the dome that covers the led...strange btw im talking about the 110w G2 and just wanted to swap some whites for more blues or a cyan red to get a better spectrum... has anyone found a way to dim some of the channels?
 
What is the current state of the Mazzerra? Seems to be the only unit that can work with the two 12" euro openings at the top of my 30" tall.

Maybe two units on each opening, pointed in different direction.
 
i have a maxspect g2 110w love this light !! but my whites stopped working i need replacement leds and a two prong harness the 2 wire one that goes to the led to board ! anyone have any for sale or can u fix it ?? maxspect seems to be to busy to return calls or emails :deadhorse:

It is possible.
You'll need to make sure the blues have a similar current rating or they might not work very well. Too low and they'll overheat or too high and they'll not perform as expected.

hey guys and girls,

im in the process of setting up an 14" tall nano that will house mainly clams and sps. i got a really good deal on a G1 160w unit from a guy in my local club, my question.. is this going to be too much light? how low do you think i can get the loght to the surface without causing bleaching?

I'm looking out at the barrier reef right now. The water is 29c and the sun is damned hot for most of the day. I'm sure the clams and sps will manage 160w.
Just make sure you gradually increase the light to allow things to settle in and stay away from deep water specimens.

I've used the g2 160w within a couple of inches of the surface. It gives the tank a streamlined look but you'll need to clean them often.

thanks, i needed the reassurance! ive never used leds for main lighting so i have no idea how powerfull these units are.
