I did decide to pull the trigger on the Razor trade-up from my 160W G2. Chris at Coralvue made the upgrade process very easy, and the new lighting arrived quickly. I was able to leave the G2 hanging kit in place and just swap out the fixture - so took me five minutes to get the Razor on the tank.
I mostly ran just the 3W LED channels on the G2 (so about 100W at the wall), and the Razor at first did not seem brighter (measured at 110W at the wall). But at the mA levels at the LED's (700 mA for the G2 vs 1300 mA for the Razor), the Razor must be higher PAR - I think the G2 just looked brighter being 50:50 white/blue vs 30:70 on the Razor.
On inspecting my takend-down G2, I finally noticed that not only were the blues burned out, but one of the 30W whites (which I ran for about 2 hr/day) had only a handful of the emitters working, and was not only dimmerr than the other but more yellow. I think this was yellow light was causing the relentless brown algae growth in the display tank the past six months, much more than the dim blues. Already with the Razor in place just a week, the algae growth seems to have signifcantly slowed.
