Maxspect Mazarra.

maivortex... you weren't kidding about stuffing those modules over your tank! haha.

Yep, the tank would be fine with 3 modules. I need to remove one of them. I am only able to clean a small area of the sidewalls. It is hard to tell but the rock scape is actually very open with many internal caves. When I clean the front glass the mag float breaks branches of coral off about every 2 weeks. I used to be very concerend about saving these frags and moving them to a frag tank, now they just drop to the bottom and sort it out. You would think the coral would eventually grow in the right direction..HAHAH

The rocks are supported by acrylic rods. I plan on getting 4 more modules after the upgrade to 300 gallon. I think theses coral will come out as one since they have grown and intertwined eachother. Been really busy with work and I let things go the last 9 months. Now that i have mazarra the access to the top of the tank is much easier.

I love open rockwork, I was wondering if in your next build, you might build the rockwork a bit lower to allow massive growth upwards. :)

I think in my next build, I probably would not build my rock on the right side of the tank so high because then I could have my corals really grow upwards! Haha, it just always seems like you run out of room.

Cheers,
John

Rufio173, have you updated to the latest firmware? Brian from Finns Reef said they have a fix for the controller not syncing back after a power outage.

I have been told that they will come out w/ a fix but have not received additional information. Thanks for letting me know crazy4reefs! :)

I will check w/ Brian.

i just finished chatting with Salty Supply. I was told that my system (2nd batch) will ship directly from Maxspect on approximately next Monday.

That's funny, I chatted with them yesterday as well. They told me they were targeting the 2nd week of September for my system (2nd batch to ship). I am seriously considering canceling the order and going with the AI SOL Blue system. The AI SOLs can completely cover my reef with power to spare for less than the Mazarras and the AI SOLs are proven. I am getting really nervous about laying out this kind of cash to be a Maxspect Guinea Pig.

Jeff, I'm feeling the same as you. I know for sure that the AI's will provide the coverage that I need. The longer I wait, the more hesitant I get, and yes next week is the second week of September.

I'm out! I just cancelled my Mazarra and switched to AI's. For my new 76 gal half-circle that will eventually be SPS dominated, AI simply has a great track record. The Mazarra will surely have advantages (Newer LED technology) but in this case, I'm just not comfortable taking an expensive risk...maybe I'll be missing out, but I think the AI's will work better for my tank.

I decided on the same thing. I was really trying to hold out for these but I am starting my purchases. This weekend I starting to piece together my parts and order my tank and stand. Tank and stand arrive in 6-8 weeks and I want to be able to put the setup together as soon as they are fabricated and delivered. If I feel the need I may look at these again after more people have reviewed them and after income tax refund time.

Marine Depot said they are shipping out the black version monday. I'm going to stick this out and hopefully have some better feedback.

Those that have backed out are weak-willed and deserters at best. haha. Just kidding! :) I definitely don't blame you.... after all, it would have been amazing if something out of the gate beat out the established LED leader in America, but I think they get pretty close to AI.

I've seen both in action and I think the Mazarras look better in general and even though I complain about line management, the AI Sol Blues don't look any better. You also don't have as many options to change out the LEDs in the AI units as you do w/ the Mazarra. I'm sticking with the Mazarras because we've got a great american dealer and it seems like Maxspect is receptive to the critiques that have been brought up so unless AI changes up their units, I definitely think the Mazarras are in the same league and may even surpass the AIs in the future.

I hope you enjoy your units... no matter which ones you get.

Cheers,
John

I'm out as well. I cancelled my Mazarra order. The order was for 5 modules to cover a 218 gallon DSA Pro reef tank. I can get the same coverage with 4 AI Sol Blue units for less money. I'm going with AI because of their proven track record, USA build, and reputation for excellent customer service. As I said in a previous post, it's just too much money for me to take the early-adopter risk.

im still tring to figure out which way i will go. i like both of them. i need 4 modules no matter which 1 i choose so the cost is about the same. i might wait until the maxspect gets some reviews.
