With all the equipment that I have and pumps; I get a lot of equipment heat generation. I do not have heaters. I have always have this problem. My house is at 68 at night and 75 during the day and I always get the same result, I need the chiller. It is set at 78 degress and cools to 76.

Remember that with the MH during the day it does not matter if it is winter, heat is going to be generated. During the night when the MH are off the chiller turned on as it does now with the LED. So the end result with the change of the LED is that now the temperature of the water is like when the MH were off during the night. Also in NC (Charlotte) we do not get very cold winters.

I received an email from Coral Vue with an attempted fix and hopped in taxi with my module. I got home and did as instructed but the lights are still not working.

I'm at my wits end with these lights and I'm just going to try to get rid of them. With the issues with the ball joint sending my lights into the water and the other module going out, I think it's time to hang it up with these lights, no pun intended, and just spend the extra money for the Radions which is probably what I should have done initially.

I really wanted these lights to work out for me but it seems that I am stuck with a busted up set of lights. Once these are repaired, I'll pass them on to someone who has the time and patience to tinker with these.:furious:

Are they not under warranty? Seems like Coralvue should offer to foot the bill on this latest issue since you ponied up last time.

I am curious if anyone has taken a video of the weather mode? I only have one P module and no controller and thinking about adding two more with the controller.

All i can say is : cool feature. It's like a real cloud passing between the light and the tank.

This is what has me livid. The kit is under warranty and repairs and shipping should have not cost me anything. The lights have only been in my possession since jan 13th.

But remember that yours fell in the water and water damage is not covered by warranty, unless you can prove to Coralvue that the ball joint has a bad design and makes the module prone to fall in the water (which can be possible). They should have a secondary safety measure so that they do not fall in the water that easily.

Now, they fixed that one and you should have a period of warranty due to the repair.

I spoke with Chris and he informed me that there was a recall on the second design of the ball joints due to issues people were having with them. It seems that the original design worked better. Marine Depot had no idea about the recall but Chris told me that too many problems were going on with the edited design. He was supposed to send out a new ball joint with the module when it was shipped back to me...but I still haven't received that yet. It's been a couple weeks already. Apparently they are shipping from somewhere else, because he said he had to email someone else to send them.

There you go..... If there is a recall on the second ball joint, then that can be your ticket for warranty repair/replacement of your unit. I have the 2 ball joints mixed in all my modules. I have 4 of the new, 4 of the old. Chris told me to see which one I like best in order for him to send me replacements of the one that I like.

The problem of the old design is the plate that links into the module itself; it can unscrew itself. The larger part screws into the ball joint and gives it more security. I might place lock tight into the small screw of the plate (not the one that secures it screwed). The new model is a solid piece into the module, but if you remove the screw that has the big hand level, then the module falls from the ball joint and that might be the design error.

Let me see if I can take picture and explain it better.

That's what sent my units into the water. The screw between the plate and the ball joint came loose and I know I screwed it in as far I could. He said he would send another request for the ball joint last week.

I just came back from my LFS and inquired about the Radions and pricing, so if that's the direction I end up going, he will give me a deal on 2 units and the hanging kits.

Last night, another issue has now plauged my lights. There's a constant flicker with the lights. I have a nonstop lightening show in my living room.

I've contacted my bank and have filed a dispute for a reversal of the funds for purchasing this junk.

Walter,

Any chance the problems you're experiencing are related to water getting into your other modules also? Are all of the modules flickering or just the one that fell into your tank?

Chris

No. The cover is always over the tank. The surface of my water is always still as I don't utilize the wave function so there is no salt spray or splashing. The one module who's A channels went out last week has never touched water. It started flickering and buzzing when the A channels went out. Last night I noticed that the "repaired" unit was flickering because the "lightening" in my living room was more pronounced than usual. I had all channels at 100% while showing a guests who was buying some of my frags the tank. He confirmed that the flickering was coming from both modules.

They are all flickering? Wow man...hate to see you having all these problems especially since I am considering getting more of these.

Have you tried running them without the one that got wet?

No. I was exhausted from a stressful workday and wasn't going to dedicate anymore time to deal with these lights at 11PM. I was done with them for the day. It would be just my luck to go home today and my house is on fire. :angryfire:

Walter,

Was it a freak accident that the first module fell in the tank, how did it get past your cover? Double check the locking screws where the ball joints attach to the module, my technician mentioned that is doesn't look like it was ever tightened.

For the flickering please check if the weather mode is activated, this could be why your seeing the LEDs dimming in and out.

I put my order in for the cover on Friday to prevent an incident such as this. The module fell into the water on Sunday morning, so at that time I didn't have the cover. The cover was picked up on Wednesday.

The first module slipped off of that track that attaches to the ball joint. If your tech said that's what he saw, then that's a lie because there is a very strong indentation in the ball joint where the tiny screw presses against it. Secondly, I didn't send in the faulty ball joint when I sent the unit back. I didn't think it was necessary, which is why I asked you if I should send you the defective one back when you were sending me the new one. This is how the tiny screws head was stripped, because I made sure it was so tight to prevent a fall.

That screw is the only thing holding the module to the ball joint, which in my opinion is a horrible design. That screw is too small to be the only point where there is pressure to keep the ball joint and module held together in the slit of the assembly. I can certainly send picture of that screw and the indentation into the assembly, as it is that deep. Even when I screwed the intact tiny screw from the other unit into the threaded hole, the module still slipped out which explains why the module detached from the ball assembly track in the first place.

I received 3 new ball joints from Chris and they work just fine now. I got them relatively quickly thanks again. I've had no problems with my lights thus far other than the old ball joints not working well. I like them a lot.

+1 not a single issue performance wise, exceeded all expectations...I'm even fine with the old ball joint design. Service has been ridiculously spot on too.

sorry you're having issues. mines assembled very easily, not sure if i could get a module to fall in the water, unless i had some hand tools to assist.
