Maxspect Razor

The minimum space between the two is 2", but if you needed them closer, you could use a hack saw or dremel and cut one end off, I suppose.

For me, since I have a canopy, having the two control pads on the inside facing each other was the way to go, or I wouldn't be able to use them on the opposite ends.

I want this connecting rod, but it would have been nice to electronically link both units and controlled simultaneously from one...and heck, even share a power supply so less danglers.

The new CoraVue Maxspect Razor (R420R) LED was announced today!

It is bigger and has an entirely new set of LED's with new optics giving it more spread too.

The "Disco Balling" effect is said to be Fixed with this New Razor.

I wonder if the Older Razors will get the Upgrade too?

What do you guys think?

I tried searching in this thread, but anyone have any idea how a 20" 120W would look over a 40 breeder? I know everyone suggests at least one 27", but I'm mostly going for the look since I'll be doing only zoas/palys, so I'm just worried about spread. If you guys don't think it'll work, I'll probably have to go with a 24" reefbreeders to save money.

Don't know if this will help you any but here's the 20" 120 on my nuvo38.

Thanks for all of the great photos of the Maxspect Razors over your reef aquariums!

I would like to ask permission from tropic, smartwater101 & ludecrasher to post your photos on the Maxspect LED Facebook page.

Please email photos to chris@coralvue.com

Thanks,

Less disco effet would be really nice, i have two 420 16 k on my 180 and that is a bit distracting.otherwise, the razors are fine.

I have the 16k 120 x 2 over my 110 gallon tank. My SPS are getting burnt tips. I was wondering if this could be because I have my lights turned up to high. I had them set at A 65 B 85. I was also thinking it could be unstable alk.

In my experience, this is related to a change in alkalinity too fast. If it was too much light, they would more than likely bleach.

Hey how are you're uv so purple/red? Mine look almost blue. Wonder if I got a lemon.

I just bought my Razor 160watt from my LFS. Corals, anemone and fish love them!

And they practically gave me these Blacker Ice pair for free.

Hi,

Considering strongly to join the Razor club but I'd need a bit of you guys help to figure out which mode works for me.

My tank is 51" long (20" x 20" deep and wide), but due to the overflow and streams the actual area which needs to be illuminated is about 39" long. And actually SPS are in area of 32-34".

And to make life even more difficult there is 1.2" center brace. (Centered on tank, thus not exactly in middle of the to be illuminated 39" area).

Now, after reading though multiple forums I can't figure out would 1x 160W 16K be enough or not? Additionally, can someone tell me what is the distance between outermost LED clusters in 160W model (center to center)?

2 x 120W would definitely be enough and brace wouldn't be a problem but they cost together almost 2x more and one LED cluster of the 2 x 120W setup would practically illuminate my overflow... don't want to pay for that. Any news whether 200W model will actually be out some day? Don't want to wait for months...

So here's my story...I had to sell my entire set up due to a move last July! Will be setting up a cube tank soon. I have the glass already. How are your tanks doing so far with the RAZOR? Honestly, with the success I had with it I am looking at the same fixture. The only thing I would do differently is acclimatization.
