May meeting

I started an official May meeting thread so folks could find it.

Where: Dave Anderson's house. directions to follow
When: The third Saturday of the falls on May 15th
Time: Dave is saying 6:30 pm
Topic: ETRC frag swap in June - some planning

Maybe a door prize or two or more. We will have to discuss that with Dave, but I am hoping though. We all like door prizes, right.

Check out Dave's tanks, probably buy some frags, probably wish you could afford more......:crazy1:

We will need to discuss food before.

We will need a head count.

I am up for car pooling if anybody needs a ride from west Knoxville to the Clinton area. No Dana and/or Matt or Matt, I am not volunteering to come and get you. :bounce1:

Food: ?????

Might I add we'll try and do some fragging demonstrations provided libations don't comprise my ability to operate power tools LOL. Come with your wish lists and we'll see if we can cut/saw/grinid/chisel/snap or otherwise mutilate corals in such a fashion that you won't be able to tell. That's successful fragging in my book and, IMO, a heck of a lot more fun than conducting business (although that component cannot be ignored). Food suggestions are welcome and I can cook well if I'm in the mood to do so.

WOW, I may be able to make one more meeting. I am leaving that week (after that day was the original plan).

Paul,
Obviously I can't guarantee a frag for everyone but don't mind drawing names for one of each of the 3 major coral categories (SPS, LPS, zoas and other softies). I don't do leathers, GSP, Xenia, etc., just zoas/palys/Yumas in the last category. Also, no hammers/frogspawn/anchor/elegance/etc. in the LPS category. Plenty of SPS though LOL.

i really, REALLY wish i could come. its been probably close to two years since i've seen your tank. maybe if you have time i'll stop by in the next couple weeks (tho i'm never in the neighborhood!) and steal all the good frags before the meeting.

It's not going anywhere anytime soon and we could frag all day and hardly make a dent.

Tequila and a dremel? I don't know if my tank can support thumbs, but I'd like a pinky or two if you're giving them away. :)

I know my limit and obviously you know my passion so between the two we'll try to avoid trips to the ER.

We'll try to make sure it is worth the trip and looking forward to meeting you.

I'm usually out in the Clinton/Lake City area to visit with family on most weekends so I'm used to driving out that way. I'm definitely looking forward to meeting you and the rest of the group. :)

Snap! I can make this one, and an evening meeting at Dave's to boot!

Eddie, I'll be ready for pick-up @ 5:30 ;)
Seriously though, Matt if you're going to this one and want a ride, we can meet-up at SA and head out from there.

Excellent, Matt. Invite your dad too if he can make it, we always have interesting conversations, anything from the Oman sheikh to Norwegian cod farms. Know anything about raising African blue striped pipefish? If only Jared and Nikki were on here more often. I picked up a mated pair and might like a new challenge.

Don't understand your post, but I am game. Looking forward to seeing what you have right now, and getting ideas for my new tank. You might as well right down your recipes now (salt, 2 part/4 part, with the suppliers and brands). I am going to hassle you-- if I remember. ;)

As I'm envisioning it there will be 3 "hats", one for LPS, one for SPS, and one for "softies". Each attendee gets one ticket and puts it in one of the "hats" of their choice. One ticket drawn from each hat and winner gets to pick a coral from that category (with some restrictions, obviously, like no scoly frags and I'm not cutting up a hot pink Yuma). However, there will be plenty of nice ones to choose from LOL.

Salt I just sent Mel a dissertation on so I can copy that here (and bore a lot of people). 2 part is easy but I do play some "tricks" with that as well. Not for the faint of heart and need to know a little simple chemistry to pull it off. I've probably tried it all at one point or another and now use the KISS principle as much as possible. However, to me it is still a big experiment in progress and I'm never satisfied. Which is a good thing as I bore easily.

I'm going to have to miss this one - I'll be in Seattle that weekend (which was also the reason I couldn't host the meeting).

Should be a good one, though. Dave, hope there's at least some of the good frags left!

Jeff,
Don't worry, my offer still stands whenever you feel you're ready! One thing is universally true: the corals never stop growing!

Dave

I should be there and looking forward to seeing your tank!! I like about anything food wise and I am perfectly okay with simple (like hot dogs as long as there is Mayo, chili, and kraut). Let me know what I can bring.
