maybe you should have had them made in china.

I'm somewhat new to this hobby. Been running my tank now for about 6 months. Have tons of zoa morphs, shrooms, ricordia and other stuff but no sps even though I really want to add some. Problem is I don't have the flow. So I talk to roger and he says tunzes would be out soon. This was in October of last year. I pre ordered one. then the delays started. Before you knew it, they weren't going to be out till late December "at the latest" he said. Now its January and he is saying late march. What he is also saying is that tunze is converting a warehouse into a manufacturing plant. Should they be splitting their resources into a new project like that when they cant seem to meet their production schedule? I know what its like to have to meet deadlines on product production and I know it takes focus on the task at hand and they aren't doing it. And to make matters worse roger says they will be releasing their 2007 of products in April. You haven't even gotten out your 2006 products and your spending time on the next thing. Isn't that putting the cart in front of the house? And before you say "shipping delays have caused this" you have been planning these for a while. Surely you checked into parts availability before you decided their initial release date. Didn't you? I can ship a car from my house to any spot on this planet in less than the 5 months your product will be late. It isn't a parts delay. Its a focus issue. Tunze built a name on its hand built quality. Now your mass producing these and falling behind. You should have outscored the project to china. They have nothing better to do than mass producing others products and they do it fast.. Just a thought. I guess the balls in your court now to try and make your march deadline. Do you plan on making up to the people that have pre ordered your products and have been forced to wait. Its not the fault of the dealers so the fault falls on you.

Hi, I am from the east and we benefit from jobs and services which are outsourced to us from countries like yours. However, I
want to give my 2 cents' worth on this subject.

Tunze products are exclusive and elitist, they are meant for a discerning niche market. To globalise it and make it accesible to the masses will make it loose those qualities mentioned above.
Will you outsource production of Rolls Royce cars or Patek Phillipe watches to China? Rolls Royce cars are so highly sought after in China simply because they are not made in China.

In a post modernist world, exclusive brands provide sanctuary from the jaded and numbing effects of mass produced goods and services. And exclusive brands love to play the waiting game. The A380 from Airbus is a case in point.
This is just my personal opinion and does not reflect the philosophy or future business strategy of the people at Tunze.

Delays are not uncommon for any product. FWIW, Eheim now makes their products in China and the Pro III was delayed 4 months. You may also notice how many copies there are now that they are made in China. Often things must be changed last minute, in this case noise issues with the 6025 meant many molds had to be modified. We found a better power supply and this added more delay. We are a company that exists solely to innovate, if we rest we will cease to exist. Tunze invented the skimmer, the conductivity meter, the powerhead and the prop pump and the wavebox. You can see skimmers, and powerheads are now a dime a dozen, if we would have stopped there the market would have swallowed us alive. Development and patents are what keep us going. I gave best guess estimates based on information from Tunze. I really don't see any fault at all, if you are not patient enough to wait, go buy something else.

seriously?

seriously?

So what am I hearing.. the china man saying dont let them build it because it wont be worth as much overall and the tunze rep is saying that if you dont like it, take your business elsewhere? Im sure tunze wouldnt suggest that. I will tell you this though. Telling people if they dont like the way you do things to take their business elsewhere will kill your business. especially when the delay is your fault. Did you have an engineer desing the new pumps or did someone with a crayon do it? You didnt know about the sound problems BEFORE shipping them out? You found better power supplies? Did you not look for the best one when you designed it? It sounds like you werent even prepared when you set your release date.. Its things like this that make people design stuff to replace you. www.mjmods.com takes what your "NICHE" was and made it cheaper and work just as well.. what corner of the market are you trying to keep ahold of?

I am done wasting my time on this, I give people info to the best of my ability. Given your apparent patience, tolerance and understanding, you are 100% correct, I do not want your business. You can send a link to this to Tunze in Germany if you like, I know they would feel the same way, life is just too short to put up with peoples petty gripes. Since you seem to know everything already, perhaps you should start your own company.

LIFE IS TOO SHORT

LIFE IS TOO SHORT

Maybe you should think about that when selling things and making promises you cant uphold. Life is too short for you to take as much time as you have making a product so late. Run roger. Hide behind excuses. I never said it was your fault but whenyou stick up for the ones who's fault it is, you take the hits right along with them.

killermagoo - your accusatory tone isn't welcome in this forum or anywhere else on the board. Since you don't seem to be interested in having a civil conversation I'm closing this.
