"Maze" Angel LOL!!!

That is one gorgeous angel, whatever it is.

Oh and why can't you get a 90/10 of two different fish? If you have two fish that have a hybrid, 50/50, then that mates with another fish that is just on one side, wouldn't you get 75/25? That is why you see so many different variations of queens/blues. Again, I am just thinking aloud here, interesting discussion.

Is the Maze the same fish that's been classified as C. Chrysocephalus?
according to some, yes;)

lunner: please feel free to take credit. When I jump from one community to another I don't look at name especially one that I don't visit or post often. The only reason it took me there was becasue Chris posted here about a Maze angel. I've always given credit where credit is due so next time please share with us on RC as well.

Sorry, thats not what I meant. I am a goofy person, and I am just been silly thats all, LOL.

But I think I would perfer the Maze with more black in the dorsal and anal fins. And with more orange in the face.

Doesn't most Chaetodontoplus already show their adult color, other then sex difference, when it reach 4"-5"?

The picture provided by Michael Stern is still not conclusive that the angel in question is a maze. There is barely any orange coloration on the face, unlike the one that was originally posted by Chris(ccampbell).

I looked at Scott Michaels book last night and the "maze" angelfish coloration is all over the road map and still called a maze.

He said its closer to 5"

The ones I saw in Hong Kong look like these:

Here's the source: Chaetodontoplus cephalareticulatus
EZ Marines

Lunner - that is a pic of a Maze. Do you see how the bluelines break up towards the back and basically become blue dots. especially near the tail...Also, the face is very orange and soThe top and bottom fins are also almost black (represented in the Chaetodontoplus caeruleopunctatus)...

If the one that he is selling is a Juvie, then I would say it has some of the coloration of a true maze. the updated picture shows a little of the discoloration on the back of the fish, but the top and bottom fins are nothing like a maze...they are blueline

The one in Michael's Angel & Butterflyfish book doesn't look like that, like someone said, the pics are all over the place..
But this is a difficult Genus anyway, isn't it? Not all relationships are understood.

This is the same site that describes the purple queen anthias as "Great hardy anthias for a reef or fish only tank."

so, out of curiosity.. am i to take it that NY Aquatic is not exactly a reputable or possibly shady dealer? i have been seriously considering picking up a regal from them recently as they almost always seem to have them in and much of the time it seems like they post they are eating well to boot...has anyone purchased from them before?

Mike at NY Aquatic is as good as they come. He has been taking care me on fish and inverts for 2 years now. Pricing you can't beat, and service is same day ship!!

I have also been to his new facility... Top notch!!

Hmm I don't think so. It is just a discussion for this really cool fish. Not really bashing NYAquatics.

I purchased fishes from him before, his prices are hard to beat. He does get some rare stuff in sometimes. And I always drove there to pickup the fishes myself.

Nah, as we said, taxonomy in this Genus is poorly understood. Nothing shady, perhaps some competing opinions & id cues I think..
