Who's got 1?
I'm thinking about adding 1 to my 125 gal reef.
I know they are considered non reef safe, but I'm more concerned about their personality. The Drs state:peaceful
I may want a Mckoskers or Lubbocks Fairy wrasse in the future,or Red-Lined Wrasse

My current residence's are:
Chromis
Yellow Tang
Blue Hippo
Flamehawk
PJ Cardinals
Bangai Cardinal
Royal Gamma
Small black goby

Some question are:
What size is your tank
How long have you had it?
How agressive is it? general personality
Any other Wrasses in the same tank?

And generally anything else you may want to share would be appreciated.

It is a peaceful one, but has health issues. You'll probably want a male. It needs a sandbed. I'm going to go Tang Police on you, and suggest you get the Blue Tang out of your tank. I don't see any other fish the Wrasse will have trouble with, especially if you buy a bigger one.

I also have a melanurus in my 48x24 inch tank. He is a pig of an eater and has grown to around 5 inches long. It definatly needs a nice sand bed. I have a cleaner wrasse and an orange back wrasse with no issues at all. He does like to flip over snail and can do a number on your inverts. He's been ok with my cleaner shrimp, but the cleaner does look pretty intimidating. I got him him as an insutance policy because of the reputation they have of being good at eradicating other reef pest like flatworms and red bugs. Don't know if this is true, but I have been flatworm and redbug free.

I had one to handle a flatworm problem, which it did very well. He was bigger than most of my fish by a large margin. I sold him to a reef store because he wouldn't stop harassing a newly introduced onyx clownfish. I will say he was an absolutely gorgeous fish.

I have one in my Oceanic 58 reef. Awesome fish. Not aggressive to any other fish I've had. Will eat a ton and steal food though! Lol. Hasn't caused any problems except it will eat a vulnerable snail if it gets the chance. My hasn't by any means wiped out my cuc, and most time can't get past the snails protective layer before I save it. But it does get one here and there. Doesn't touch my shrimp, I have 2 med fire shrimp, 1 med cleaner, and 1 small pepp.

They 100% do not eat red bug (or AEFW for that matter).

I have one in my 150 gal that Ive had for at least two years. Mostly well behaved and gets along with other fish, even my red velvet fairy wrasse. Definitely loves snails if he can get them flipped over. Ate my two crocea clams within two weeks of adding them to the tank. He owes me $120.

Well I did get one so I'll just have to see.
So far seems ok. Got a little freaked when the lites went out last night. 2nd night in tank.
I'm also ordering a big clean up crew. I hope they can do their job before the Wrasse or my Hawkfish eradicates them:eek1:

I always knew when mine went to bed for the night because a huge cloud would appear from him dive bombing into the sand bed.
