metal halide and timer

can you run a metal halide on a timer.... or is there something special i got to do to make it work...

timers are just fine, stay away from coralife timers though.

The coralife timers and power stations have been known to catch fire for no reason...

Get a heavy duty timer from Lowes or Home Depot(three prong input plug).

I 've used one of the outdoor types for christmas lighting...has a cover to prevent saltwater splashing. Currently running a Reefkeeper computer for halide contgrol though. Much more reliable and has safety cut-offs in case of overheating and such.
