MH Bulb Problem?

I recieved a 175w Ushio 14k SE bulb from you folks last week and i'm running on a new style Icecap E-ballast. When I first fired up the bulb, for about 2 days, it was flickering but stopped doing that until this morning.

I called Icecap and they think it is the bulb as the new ballasts have virtually no chance of flickering because of the high frequency they ran at. I haven't been able to find any used bulbs to throw on there to see if it is in fact the bulb.

Can I swap this bulb out for another? What are my options here? Have you heard of this problem with this ballast/bulb combo? Should I try a different brand?

Hi,

I haven't heard of any bulb/ballast conflicts yet, so could just be an issue with that bulb.

We could exchange it for another one, or another brand if you want. Just email us sales@premiumaquatics.com or call 317-895-9005 and we'll get an exchange setup for you.

The new bulb is scheduled to arrive tomorrow, so i'll update middle of next week.

The new bulb has about 15 hours on it now and not a single flicker. I will give it a week to make sure all is good before sending back the other bulb. Must have just got a dud.

Yeah, was really hoping it wasn't the ballast. I already sold my other lighting set-up, so if I had to send the ballast in, I would of been scrambling for a temporary light.
