MH Bulb question- !

Hello.
I currently have a 400 w MH retro and need to change the bulb.
The bulb that I'm using is a :
10K 400watt Metal Halide Bulb - CoralVue

The bulb that I'm thinking about buying is :
10K 400watt Metal Halide Bulb - Ushio

Are these very similar bulbs? I'm a little concerned because I'm not sure if my ballast will run the Ushio bulb.

Hi,

Your ballast will fire the 10k Ushio. However the Ushio is a little more of a drab white, even with a tinge of yellow to it comapred to the Coralvue.

Does CoralVue make a 12K 400 w bulb?

I want something nice and blue......I really like the HAMILTON but they seem a little bit pricey (what in this hobby isn't.... )

How are the 20K CoralVue? XM? Is it too blue?

Hi,

The 20k 400 Coralvue looks great IMO! It is not as blue as the XM or Radium, and has more a "natural" look to it. The XM almost has a slight purple tinge to it, rather than blue. If you are wanting something that is more blue, it's hard to beat the Radium. It's more natural, and less purple than the XM I think.
