MH Bulb Recommendations

I'm looking for something more blue/white. I have a 150DE 10K coralife bulb w/ HQI ballast. This bulb is just way too yellow for my taste.
People used to love the Phoenix and now I'm hearing that after a couple of months it loses it's pop.
Any other recommendations?

I also may be upping it to a 250. If anyone has a cheap SE pendant / ballast just laying around, PM me.

u can try 14k...corals DO prefer the 10k...u can try more .03

They now have the DE available Newschool. I saw it out at Rod's...really nice color. Not too blue or too white in my opinion. I prefer it over the Phoenix actually as I am running the phoenix currently. They will be switched out to the reeflux very soon.

Thanks Todd, I'll def. check those out. I've seen the Phoenix 14K's, how would you describe the differences between the two?

I think the Phoenix are more blue than the reeflux. However, the temp is different also. Minimal, but different...14K Phoenix as opposed to 12k Reeflux.

I wonder if there is much difference between the color of the SE and the DE bulbs. I've seen the 12K Reeflux that Rod has over his cube and thats perfect but I think he's running a SE on that overdriven with an HQI ballast.
I've heard that colors can be drastically different for SE and DE bulbs from the same brand and with the same K rating.

I have heard the same. I used the 10K SE reeflux on my 120 and it was white. Not a horrible white and had a tiny tiny bit of blue. Not bad, but I do want a bit more blue so I am anxious to try the 12k DE and will probably do it after Rod is done with the IMAC.

I've been quite please with my 14K Hamiltons...Perfect mix of color for me.

I don't think Reeflux makes a 150 12K DE bulb. I've looked everywhere and only can find the 10K.

Mike, I've heard the 14K Hamiltons are very blue. Do you agree? What type of ballast are you using and DE or SE?

i have the same problem im running 2 150 w de 10ks with pv atinics but it is to white would love to get it a little bluer

I run SE 400 watters on IceCap electronic ballasts.....I don't think they're too blue at all. I don't use any actinic.

Then again...color is subjective to the each set of eyes.
