Mhucasey's SPS obsession

All the corals look great, love the top downs, but this one. This one. This one.

Can't think of anything else to say. :)

Yeah that one is breaking my normal trend with those types of corals, im really stoked. Before this one, they would start blue, then turn green or brown or some other color not blue.

It was sold to me as an Aussie frag, blue Bomber or Blue Monster or some such nonsense. It is a Granulosa I think, but im terrible with specific species ids. Maybe Kevin will know.

It's still too small to say but it has that austera, sarmentosa vibe to it

Awesome! My wife goes for her Post-OP follow up tomorrow afternoon - so far her back is much better than after her previous surgery. Her nerve pain is significantly reduced, she is very happy with him:)
Good deal! I'm glad she's feeling better and hope for a speedy recovery! I wouldn't wish this kind of stuff on anyone. Sorry for taking up space and time on your very informative thread [emoji16]

There are 20drops per mL, I weighed the NP pro and it weighs 0.048g per drop(Close enough to the standard of 0.050g/drop for water)

So for a 50ML bottle there are 1000drops.

2L of NP Pro for dosing pumps at 5ml/100L dose volume has 400 doses.

So unless Im missing something you need 20mL concentrated NP Pro mixed into 2L of DI water.

Wow! If that's correct, and it makes sense to me, the doser size is much more expensive. Thanks for the info.

Thanks! I'm using the Aquaforest system, dosing NP Pro carbon source. I was dosing the concentrated form, 10 drops per day, now I have it on the doser, 45mL per day.

Thanks, I started using the NP pro on top of the large amount of vinegar and vodka I am using. Phosphates are the lowest they have been ever, I am feeding so much I am thinking it should be OK. Is there an aquaforrest supplement that would help nutrients stay readable and keep corals fed well? Not familiar with their non elemental products.

No worries, good luck at your appointment!

Yeah, I bought the 2L size thinking it was the concentrate. When I found out it was for dosers I was happy but I calculated the doses per container and realized it was less than half as many compared to the dropper. I will keep the nifty bottle and make up my own in the future.

Matt,
great update mate.
I can't source Manganese chloride
You think I can used Manganese sulfate for my mixture?

Sure, many of the trace supplements use Manganese Sufate. The Sulfate ions aren't an issue.

Aquaforest has an Amino Mix, a Vitamin mix, and a Coral Food(Energy) that you dose regularly as part of the system. If you are keeping the nutrients very low, dosing these keeps the corals fed.

Thanks Matt, Your piece looks amazing! Mine just got out of QT yesterday and I'm searching for a place in my display for it.

Thanks Matt for the confirmation.
It works out to be 0.09 grams of maganese sulfate / 100 ml RO DI water.
Following your 1 drop per 100 L method.

I am going to dose it normally for the first week, then observe the reaction, then double dose the amount and see if it makes any difference with colours.

Since I only change 60 liters of ASW per month. 15% of total volume. I am fairly sure my manganese is on the low side for a 20 months old tank.

One thing that was surprising about moving the equipment to the garage and up-sizing the skimmer was that the tank pH rose significantly. For a while I thought it was a testing error but after using two probes and calibrating multiple times and testing references, I've just come to accept it. My ph ranges between 8.6 and 8.8. I'm not joking.

The skimmer gets pure, low CO2 air, it really strips the water of CO2, and the Heavy lighting encourages any CO2 in the water to be consumed. Other than that I have no Idea why. I intentionally maintain low KH, at times it has been as low as 6.1. I still always had the high pH.

I will not pretend to be an expert but I put in an air exchanger in my basement having thought I understood that co2 is heavier than air and sits in the basement unless we move it. On top I have to help with heat rising. Food for thought.

My garage is just next to the room the tank is in and isn't particularly well ventilated. However, at that time the water flowed through a lot of pipe to go around the family room to the garage. After the upgrade the tank is in the house with the sump but I pull air from outside but I've never had pH as high as I did when the sump was in the garage...

Awesome! I have no intense swings in color but so far the color on the more delicate acros has been holding well.

Perhaps the various things Im doing are having an effect:

Ya think Matt ! :p

Colors are going off tap mate, just awesome to see :)

I definitely notice how much clearer and well defined the pigments have become on your acros, most would just say they look more colorful but it's a difference that isn't just a case of more pigment production alone imo, i would use the term 'more clarity' to best describe your colors now - thoughts young Matthew ? :reading:
