micro placement

REEFRHEAD

i just aquaired my first micro frag about a month ago and i cant seem to keep it happy, it usually has its feeder tenticles out and willing to eat, but recently ive noticed it not being soo full and puffy im wondering if its too low in my tank its on the sand bed about 30inchs under a 250 10k mh and 165 vho actinics. should i move it up? and while im at it i cant seem to keep a certain acan happy either do they require more light too its also on the sand bed but more directly under the mh

So the micro was fine for about a month? Now it doesn't appear happy? Did you always have it in the sandbed? What have you changed to cause your micro to be unhappy?

In my experience, acan lords typically like less light then do micros.

well i moved it once and a snails knocked it over so i relocated it back to the sandbed for it to reheal itself, this happened about three days ago one of the polyps is nice and full but the other is flatter. so do you think the micro should be placed higher up in the tank? the acan ahs been in the same spot for a while now and just isnt as happy as i think it should be maybe less indirect light?

honestly 30 inches under 250mh doesnt seem like alot. When I was running my 150 mh, I had some of my micros about 10 inches under. My acans less then that.

How's the flow in that area? Less flow is better then more. I have a few lords in an area where there is hardly any flow. So little that when the feeders come out they barely move.

the flow might be a little strong ill put them in my blasto area and see if they like that area more. ok i will move the micro up thanks alot for the advise

hmmm I dont think the Doc knows what he is talking about ;)

But no seriously, keep them in moderate to high light.
