Midas Blenny Eat HA?

Fretfreak13

I am not a boy!
Just wondering. I think the lawnmowers are very bland, but I love having a little fish that'll mow down that pesky hair algea if it arises. Gotta nip it in the bud. Will a midas blenny take care of it?

i've had two midas blennies and both never picked at any algae at all.. I'd look into a tailspot. They're usually good for algae.. not so sure about hair algae either.

I have to second what bigrig said. My lawnmower lived up to his name quite well. Now that he's gone I'm having my first issues with hair algae.

To the OP, I too find the LM's a bit bland. I'm considering a starry blenny for that reason. Basically the same fish with better clothes.

A lawn mower blenny will eat hair algae all day long, why do you think they call it a lawn mower blenny, cause it will mow it down like theres no tommorow.

My own personal observations tell otherwise, mine never touched it when my tank went through the hair algea phase. FWIW, neither did the Tailspot I had when my 65 was still up and running.
Manual removal, nutrient control/export is what got rid of it for me.

I have a LMB in another tank and I know for a face he eats the HA, but like I said he's very bland.

I'll check into the starry blennys and the tailspots, thanks guys. =)
