Minh's 320 reef

I got a few pictures of the reef today, just now because I am home early today.

Please excuse my Green Haddoni. He is shy and craw to the back of the Gigantea. I cannot take a good picture of him. He is healthy and eat like a champ. I got to do a little rearrange the rock to show him off more. Certainly he is the brightest of my anemones. He is stunning under actinic light, together with my Red Haddoni.

With good water condition and high Alkalinity and Ca, my coral and clams are growing fast and Coraline algae just cover everything quickly.

What do you guys think this tang is? I got it as a lavender tang but there is no way that it is a Lavender. He was only almost 2 inches when I bought him about 6 months or so ago. Now pushing 7 inches.

Hmmm.. my guess is either Acanthurus Leococheilus or Acanthurus bariene. These guys are hard to ID because when switching from juvenile to adult form the color varies a lot. Also, as with the case with my Acanthurus maculiceps, whose tail changes from white to brown, the color changes drastically based on the fish's mood.

D-Nak,
I think you are right. It is most likely a A. bariene.
They are all so much alike with only minor variation. Color of the spine, minor stripes on the face....
Regardless, they are all so beautiful as adult but so big. There is the Texas State Aquarium here in Corpus Christi. I do know some people there. I will have to donate him to the Texas State Aquarium when he is a little bigger which will not be long. My 4 tangs and the Fox Face eat two sheets of Nori a day. They can eat more because all the Nori are gone by 1 PM, roughly 6 hrs after I put the Nori in.

Thanks Adrienne.

It have been 6 months since I got rocks in this tank. It is really doing well with corals growing fast. I have my Wall to Wall Carpets, almost literally from the back to the front wall this AM. I put the Red Haddoni carpet on the other side of the front but he move across the front of the tank to be right next to the Blue Haddoni. I have tried not to feed my Carpets to keep them manageable and small, but I am loosing that battle. There are always snails to be had and fish food and a fish or two at times.
I am very happy with the light other than when I take pictures. Pictures under LED is not going to be anything like pictures under MH. Looks great in real life but in pictures there is a strange color tint to it. Ugly.

I would have to say you have the best collection of anemones on reef central to date. Not to mention your gigas is outstanding. I always enjoy seeing your pictures as they give small time reef keepers like me the inspiration that is needed.
Thanks

My Elegance still in the Frag tank, for the last 1 month. Really doing well. This will be the first Elegance I amble to keep the rest just succumb to the Elegance disease shortly get into my tank

My Green Haddoni. I am bale to turn the rock structure up side down and got him back to the front. I swear, it he craw to the back again I will toss him (just kidding). He is in the process of digging down the sand bed, I hope. He still not as healthy as all my other anemones. I got this guy sick. Sold from Petco to a reefer here in Corpus Christi. That reefer was not able to keep him due to lack of equibment and bought the sick anemone to one of the LFS. He was deflating daily. I bought him from the LFS for 50.00. I think I successfully treated him with Cipro and put him into my DT. Very nice Green color. I plan to feed him some to help him recover from his stress.

My Purple S. gigantea. He is really doing well. He is about 18 months in captivity.

The last picture is my Gigas this AM. He is doing well, growing well. The purple Gigantea was stinging him a little, so I moved the rocks and put the anemone higher so the two giants in my tank have some separation

Wall to Wall Carpet

Wall to Wall Carpet

Here is my wall to wall carpet. However, one of the Gignatea is being squeeze by the other three anemones. He really does not have anywhere to go. There is not enough light or current back in the corner there so I redo the aqua-scape a little and bring him to the front. He is not sick, just not doing well, and not growing well. Here is his new place right in front. He start to color up some also. Seem to have some blue and some green on the tentacles. Not quite as much as in the picture below. I find that LED tend to exaggerate the color somewhat.

Update on my fish list:
Powder Blue tang
Yellow tang
Purple tang
Blotchi tang
One-spot fox face
1 Pair Watanabe angels
1 pair Marine Beta
1 pair Flame angel
5 Lyetail anthias
1 Royal Gramma. I need four mor Juvi/females
10 clowns

In the DT I have 1 Picasso, 5 SnowOnyx, two Onyx, and two Black snowflakes. I got a pair of Platinum but I sold them. With that many anemones, the clowns defuse out but they tend to pair with likes. The two black snowflakes pair up, the two Onyx pair up and the other six seem to hang around in group also.
