Minh's Blue LA Gigantea 6/26/2014

The anemone continue to do well. Due to several important reasons, I will put him directly into my DT this afternoon when I get home from work. Will keep update everybody. I feel like I am gloating which is really not my intention at all.

there have been some question on what/how much light is best for anemones during treatment. Here is the cheap Chinese Flood LED 10,000K light that I use. I think it is 40 W. I find that it works well for me. The light is good and give accurate color for pictures also.

Picture this AM. I found that my Gigantea have a few green tentacles that can be seen on the top down picture.

Well, I have done it. I put him into DT only after 5 days of treatment and no period of treatment free observation in my DT. There are several reason why I have to do this. Wish me luck. I hope no disaster will come from this.

Because he was attached to the QT, I have to remove him without him attache to anything which I often really try to do when I treat an anemone. My tank have very high circulation I have to arrange several things so that I can get him to attach where I want him to attach.

I got a place that I think would be perfect for him. I removed as many corals as I can so that he can move a little without stinging them. I turn all the pumps/PH off except the return pump. I block him into place using rock and what ever I can use, mainly PVC pipes. Once he attached, I turn on the pumps. Since he does not seem to more around unattached, I removed the pipes. Tomorrow, I will remove the rock that I use to block him in.

At first, he floated too deep under the cave, the entrance of which is where I wanted him to attach. I have to use a hose attached it to the return PVC and snake the output end to the back of the cave to blow him out. It was successful. He have attache exactly where I wanted him to attach.

Here are several pictures of this blue Gigantea as I tried to get him to attached where I wanted him to. Now if he just coperate with me and stay where he is right now.

I removed the rock I used to block him in. He have attached and fully expanded. He is in the cave too deep. I used some tiles to block the light that reach him from the back to encourage him to move forward to the front. I am given him until Sunday to move to where I want him to be. If not I will dismantle the rocks on that side of the tank and move them so I can get him expose to much more light. I am often in the camp that leave the anemone be so he can move to where he want. In this case, I don't want to move around too much. I have some rather nice frags that I don't want him to lay to waste. The pictures taken this AM as the light start to come on.

Very nice Minh, he looks great. I was going to pick up a green Gig from my LFS on Friday but i was to late, all 3 Gigs they had were already sold. The green was already picked up but he also had a blue and purple and he was treating them with Cipro.

Looking good. I picked up the blue Gigantea from LA, on 06/26/14. I've been treating him with Ciprofloxacin. He's doing decently and hope he fairs well.

Tank and nem are looking great! Man that purple (valida?) colony is intense!
Thanks. That colony is out of this word. I just order a Macro lens and an attachment so I can take picture under water with my SLR. Then I will post and let you see how bright purple that colony is.

I would like that! Your nem seems to be settling in quite nicely. Bravo!

That nem is really nice Minh. The few green tentacles makes it that much more special. Very cool. He looks great in your tank too.

I hope Ctran's gig is holding on.

He continue to do well, 3/4 out to under the light now. I fed him last night. Next week if I don't see any Zooxanthelea recover, I will do a transplant on him with one of my other Gigantea.
