Tank is at set up at my parents, 5' 120G heavily fed tank was upgraded up from a 72 Bowfront 1.5 Years ago, in total up for 5+ years which has survived Irene, Sandy, and various other issues... caught this while my friend was servicing the tank and I stopped by to deal with an issue... kinda freaky really!

Mini Brittle Star Coming Out... a good 2.5inches from tip to tip, that is a Paly Grandi it is climbing on which if you have seen them are quite large...

My old tank was loaded with mini brittles. They would always spawn after a water change. Cut the return and the tank would have a light milky hue to to for a while. Also, my lfs loved when I bought chaeto in. Would be loaded with pods and brittle stars. Yes, they can be a lot to lookat, but the are harmless imo. My new tank has a much smaller population

Put a harlequin shrimp in for a few weeks he will take care of them lol.

why do you want to get rid of them? They're good scavengers/detritivores that will be a benefit to your tank.

Your quote was Heavily Fed Tank, so the brittles are your friends. It is better to have a bunch of them than Bristle worms. And Harlequin do not eat them.

I have a ton of them in one tank but not the other. I suspect the pigmy angel might be munching them. Anyway, they're good to have for the above mentioned reasons. When I feed I see their arms sticking out to filter feed. Other than that the only time I see them is if I am pulling out algae.

Harlequin shrimp don't eat brittle or serpent stars, though they will eat asterinas.

Wow that's like a breeding tank! Hope your not planning on bringing any into your new tank without super careful inspection
