so i got this bta from a guy i know. he has had the original for about 1.5 yrs. it has split about 5 times for him and it would not get bigger than 3"-4". i thought that something had to be wrong since it wouldnt get any bigger and kept on splitting.
so i got one off of him. i have had it for about 7 mos. parameters are all good.
no3 < 5
ammo - 0
ph - 8.4
alk - 10
sg - 1.026
the original has split once and the clone has split once. always when it gets about 3-4".
just wondering what could be up

The word on the street is there are some that like to be in groups like a small colony and they split alot, and some that are giants solo anemones.

All will split. Even the huge ones. They split and move more under stress and less under constant conditions.

Too many variables to answer the question, "Why?" They are simple critters and get to decide for themselves.

Suffice it to say, I have quite a few parent lines and they react differently even when placed into my own different tanks. Light, flow, feeding, water conditions, clowns hosting, all seem to variables that contribute to size vs split in my tanks.

Cheers.

I have seven that get no bigger than 4'' max.I can't figure why they stay small, they have nice bubble tips and eat like crazy.

The eating like crazy may be the issue. It is my understanding that overfeeding can cause them to split. I am by no means suggesting starving the anemones. But a once a week feeding of silverside should be enough. Or at least that is what I have read.

mine eats really well too. still bubbly. just didnt know if anyone else had this experience. thanks all
