Mini carpet anemone keeps splitting...good or bad??

They are pretty easy to propogate...just cut them clean in half!

You can see that these have just been cut, the circle is not complete, they have a Pac-Man shape where they are healing.

Here's a couple that have now attached to a rock and have been healing up for a couple of months, I'd say it takes from 2 to 4 months to heal up and grow out to their original size.

My frag growout. most of the smaller ones one the bottom right hand side were cut about a week ago and the larger in the top left are waiting to be split.

Do you only cut them in half Dave, or do you ever do thirds etc?

I have one in my collection that is about 5" in diameter and thought I could qtr it up.

I have heard that you can just cut them evenly in quarters if its large enough. But I would try cutting it in half first.

Email me if you have any you want to sell.

NP...when I cut them and they have healed properly, I'll let ya know. Realize however, we are a cpl hours from ea. other.

Yeah but even so priority shipping is overnight so shipping is really cheap. I am looking for at least 3 colors to start out with.

Yea I'm not really interested in shipping livestock...I've never done it before.

But..I'd be willing to drive and meet half way-ish when the time comes.

Yeah i could either meet you or walk you thru the shipping process. I have shipped frags all over the country and it isnt hard at all. As long as you can tie rubber band around a zip lock bag and double bag it a few times you can do it. I was really intimidated at first because I was worried I would mess up but in reality it is very simple. Even with cold weather all you do is put a hot hand hand warmer in the box near the bag they will be good. Or we could wait until the beginning of April when the weather gets better. you wouldnt have to guarantee it or anything because I have received quite a few frags in the mail and they always arrive in good condition.

I should be going out that way in mid may. Or could head out that way late next week. I just think shipping is easier for both of us.

I usually do just in half.... I ended up doing one in thirds and lost 1 piece. It's not easy getting them perfectly in half, I wouldn't risk the thirds thing personally. Usually within a couple of days they close up enough that you could just try splitting in half again.
