I am not a big fan of anemones so i do not get into looking at all the diff kinds.. I do know how to care for normal anemones..But now im seeing all these new mini carpet anemones..So i got a few ?? on them...How big do most get ..do they move around alot..And do they host any clowns..Thanks

Rarely will S. tapetum be a host for clowns, but it does happen in captivity infrequently at best.

In my experience the larger variety tends to stay put once acclimated to the new environment and reaches a maximum of 6" across. These tend to divide only when extreme variances occur in the tank, i.e. near disasterous changes in environment.

In my experience the smaller variety seems to top out at 2", divide frequently, and move around a bit.

most get about 2" those are the mini's, there is a maxi aswell and they get to be about 4-5", mine got to about 4.5" then split.

mine didnt move until two things happened...1> green birdnest colony started to shade him, 2> he decided to split in half, in doing so moved to higher ground...not sure if he split because of the shading or not though...

and mine dont host any of my clowns but they have eaten my yellow clown goby and my green chromis..

they are very easy to propagate...by cutting or as i sadly found out today ripping them apart in a rock slide...

the are ridiculously sticky under water

i feed mine about every three days, half a piece of frozen krill, sometimes they blasted with the turkey baster full of mysis and cyclops, and bryne, and rotifers too...not sure what they catch out of the blasting though..

what colour are yours got some pics...? i love these little guys..

I dont have any just trying to learn about them

I have tons of the Mini ones., wish I never put em in my tank though.
Little bastages have killed my pipefish and other slow moving fish. They are sticky to the touch and if a slow moving fish bumps into a cluster of them. They get stuck and slowly get their flesh stripped from them
