miniatus ate shark??

Hey everyone ,
Need some quick help.. My minatus grouper has just ate (within the last 3 hours) my banded cat shark. The grouper is about 8 inches but really solid and the shark was about a foot. Grouper is huge now obviously but is swimming just respirating really fast!!!
Should I try to catch the grouper and pull out the shark?? Should I let nature take its course??
Thanks for all the help- not sure what to do.

I think your best bet would be to let nature take it's course. Especially after 3+ hours I don't the shark would have any chance of survival. Keep us updated on how the grouper does.
 
an 8" grouper ate your 12" + shark? im finding this very hard to believe... im not sure physics would allow such a thing to happen... not trying to be dumb... but it makes absolutely no sense... it's almost like the grouper would have to swallow it like a snake swallows its prey, to actually get it all in... but i guess i have no idea... you should have posted a pic
 
i must also say, the only way your grouper would even attempt this is if he was very very hungry. Obviously you dont feed him near enough... jmo
 
well this snake did the same thing as his grouper. but the crocodile was so big it blew up the snake :D

Grouper are like bass. If they think it will fit, it might, and they will try. I would not assume lack of feeding or anything. It may have just been too tempting. That shark is a flexible fish that could become rolled and fit in an 8" grouper, so it does not defy physics, just makes for a full belly.

i understand your point, however the snake is twice as long as the croc...

and fish do not "fold" their food as far as i know...

not ridiculing or saying it isnt true or possible... i jus having a hard time picturing this... either way, the sahrk is apparantly MIA, which sucks regardless :(
 
Years ago my 12" redtailed catfish ate my 15" arowana. It can happen. He threw it up the next day and the catfish was fine.

I don't believe they're quite to the extent of a gulper catfish, but groupers can eat a substantially larger fish than themselves.
