Minimizing micro bubbles in large tanks?

I wonder how all you monster-sized aquarium people deal with microbubbles through the sump since you're probably running 1000-2000gph. Baffles not an option.

I draw 2000GPH through my sump and use 100 micron filter bags - they do the trick! Use the ones with the internal plastic ring rather than drawstring as they can overflow your tank when they flog (if the bag does not pull off the pipe).

I used to use 100 micron filterbags on my 230g. It helped quite a bit actually.

thanks guys...i was using one filter sock with two drains which is maybe the problem..i will use 1 per drain. btw...the socks are 200 microns...is that cool?

I have a much smaller rig, but I've found 2 things helpful: 1, routing the skimmer effluent back to the #1 chamber, and 2. putting a rock pile of Tonga branch, deep sand ripple, and a monster wad of cheato in chamber #2, which gets all the bubbles the skimmer produces, plus those from my very energetic [1 floor fall] downflow.
