Miracle mud reviews plz!?

Normally I don't say this but do a search. You'll see the same comments and arguments that come out every time someone asks this question.
The only worthwhile answer you are going to get is from someone who has used it AND hasn't used it. I am one of those people and never noticed a difference either way.

I have done some research and everyone who has run it seems to have good things to say. But everyone who hasn't has really bad things to say! Still haven't found anyone has run it say anything bad bout it!

Good for planted refugiums like mangroves and sea grasses.
This is the only time I would use it. And I wouldn't use Miracle Mud.
I would use Walt Smith's Fiji Mud since it actually comes from the tidal pools in Fiji.

Because most who are running it are like the person who commented above. They have it in their tank now and things seem fine. But most will say that they didn't really see any difference once way or the other compared to not running it, and in the end it wasn't worth the time or money.

Search for YouTube videos of Mike Paletta discussing it.

I wondered.

not sure if it's the same thing, but I use the Caribsea Mineral Mud.. bought it accidentally looking for Miracle mud.. whatever, same stuff probably. Anyways, all my macros grow really well and reproduce quite a bit in the stuff. I also have mangroves that refuse to die even though I don't illuminate them properly. Only advice I have is definitely use about a half inch to an inch of sand on top of it, otherwise you'll have silt everywhere.

Re this and your prior post, well put.

Especially advice to do a search to get both sides of product evaluations.

Here's a start:

Mike

I went through the same tireless searches. My tank was set up using miracle mud by my lfs who swore by it. I had it in my refugium for almost 2 years so I was reaching the replacement stage. I had a few dust storms when a pump slipped off the wall and did not look forward to the mess of changing it. After not really finding an answer on the forum, I just removed it one day about 2-3 months ago. My chaeto still grows wild and there have been no increases in nitrate or phosphate. I also don't see any change in fish or corals. It also freed up some room to add a pump for my uv. Hope this helps and that I am not overlooking any long term results

I'm one who has never used it, but I won't say anything negative about it because I just don't know much about it.

What do you hope it will do for you, your tank or your animals? What's the benefit?

Just my exp, added it to an established tank and it caused a ton of film algae, removed it and algae issues went away.
I'm not sure how they regulate what goes into it, and I suspect results may vary.

Miracle mud reviews plz!?

99 out of 100 negative comments about mud (miracle or Fiji) are from people who have never used it, but have read one or two write ups on its makeup and automatically label it as junk. Period. I've got several local friends that are avid mud users that have some spectacular PE and colors on their acropora. Ive had Fiji mud with Tampa bay rock in my fuge now for a couple months.

Lots of cyano in the fuge right now which tends to coat and kill any Maro I try. I may turn the light off entirely. Aefw have basically taken out most my acros, but most my Zoas are doing very well. Too many variables in a tank to effectively judge the usefulness of mud. No plans on removing it though
