Miracles in Glass 150 / 200 system build

It is currently on hold.... well kind of. I am waiting for the in-laws to get out before procedding; it is just easier that way. I may go ahead and finish the plumbing though, at least I can do that without interference.

I feel the same way - I considered that it would be "easier" on my tank to use some of the the Vortechs - but.... I would have to look at them, and the cords in the tank, and maintain them. This would mean getting into the tank, probably causing a rock slide.
With the OM-4 the maintenance is confined to ONE outside the tank component. Makes more sense to me....
I wil have the thread up and running in a few days.
T

You don't see cords in the tank with Vortechs which is why I got them. To be honest you can barely see mine as they are against the back glass which is black also. I looked at a CL but being the anal retentive type I am, I didn't want holes in the bottom of my tank. But that's just me.
When are you coming down this week T? Drop by and see my setup while you're in the neighborhood (I'm just round the corner from Jeff). Still interested in the dimmer?

Alan is right about that, I have seen his Vortechs and they are very inconspicuous, your set up looks great Alan, you have done a superb job on the whole thing!!
I finally got the both back 4 way returns changed over to 1.5", the flow is much more "spread out" now and not like a pressure washer in the tank..although this required some aquascaping change, but I got 'er done !

Wow, I have not talked with you in a while. A 220? I gotta get over to your placeand talk with ya. I have finally started trying to get mine going again... have had a lot of personal stuff so haven't had time. Talk with ya soon man.

Howdy spsfreak! How you been? Yeah, you know me, changin tanks all the time!! :fun4:

Thanks sikk50 for the compliments! I'll be keeping the existing stand, a friend ( EnglishRebel ) will be helping me make the stand wider for the new tank...

JRF,
Did you put any valves on your OM returns? I didn't see any in the pictures and I worry that when you go to service the OM, you will drain the tank.

Otherwise looks good. Don't see many tanks these days with 30" H

Chrisrush, yes, I have shut off valves on each OM return and the Intake. They are located in the stand right under each bulkhead fitting. The new tank is coming in later this week ( 48" x 36" x 30" LWH ).
Thanks!

looking forward to following another build! Do you still like the OM? I am considering closed loop on the tank I plan to upgrade to but have not come to a final decision as I already have a couple of vortechs and they really do the job well in my current tank.

Hi Vetdog, yes I really like the OM 4way. I am able to get a ton of flow inside the tank without having to hide a powerhead. The OM has been very reliable for me. I did dis-assemble the 4way one time to clean it and re-grease it, it was very easy to do. The new tank is also drilled for the OM. Attached is a picture of the new tank from a couple weeks back and you can see the hole locations...

Tagging along too.....installed a 180-gl Miracles on March 10th and could not be HAPPIER.

Good luck with your new 220.....

No unfortunately I am not good at the build thread thing. I really want to begin one, but I lack the time, pics and patience. I am entering in my busiest time of the year for my job and simply can not dedicate the time. Plus, my new 180-gl is still very much a work in process. If I get some time I will post some Pics.

But I am STOKED for my Miracles tank. Derek and Nathan are the best and the tank is literally a work of art.

Ok, here are a couple of pics. Build is still very much in progress with aquascape adjustments, lighting/bulb selection (still struggling) and coral placement, etc. But in week 7 I am pretty happy to be where I am at:
