mnml's rimless

Its about 11-12" deep in my new tank but was only about 3-4" in my old tank.

The health seems equal in both depths.

heres a new photo

Im like you, I have the hardest time with white ballance on my camera. I have radium mh with 420/460 sunpaq pcs so my tanks pretty blue, but no where near as blue as my pics come out.

Thanks Reefobsession. I'm doing a ton of traveling for work the next few months so I haven't added too many changes to the tank. Besides these frags, I'm going to have to leave it on cruise control until June.

Hi there, just wanted to clarify something, am i right in saying you havent used any live rock in the making of this tank?

i'm relatively new to the hobby, wouldn't this mean you would have no algae introduced in the tank and therefore no problems with algae? was that the idea?

just wondering ;)

Hi legolas100,

I decided to use dry/dead rock because I did not want to risk getting unwanted hitchhikers. I used a few small pieces of "clean" live rock, fish food, and Microbacter 7 to help seed the tank and jump start the cycle. I still went through the normal algae bloom during my cycle though.

Hi Jennifer,

I don't plan to at the moment, I usually wait on 1st generation products. Are you? I need to stop by to check out our tank when I get back from Taiwan.

Since my last post, there have been a few hiccups with my tank. Due to my hectic traveling schedule, the tank has suffered a bit. The saddest part was I lost a majority of my fish while I was gone. The lesson I learned from all of this is don't add anything new to a tank when you're about to go on a 2 week business trip.

I've been spent last month getting the tank back on track and things are starting to bounce back quite nicely. Corals are looking healthier and I added a few new fish.

Here are some pics of the new additions:

I also got the idea to try some N/P bio-pellets (thanks robojet). It's only been online for 3 days so no immediate results. Hopefully I should see some changes in a few weeks, hopefully for the good.

I'm using a TLF reactor with a slight mod (thanks to kc350twin). Took out the sponges and the top red disk and replaced it with some needle point mesh.

Currently using 400ml to see how the tank react. I may add the remaining 100ml in about 2 weeks. Circulation is powered by a MJ900.

Ha. Nice reactor mod. That is exactly like mine and works great. I wish I had taken pictures of mine like you did. Getting those sponges out is key because they clog so fast.

Sorry to hear of the troubles, but it happens. Live and learn I guess.

Don't tell me you lost the Picasso too.

Unfortunately... :sad1:

That was a really nice idea to remove the disk to allow more room for the pellets. I actually had to seal the inlet of the reactor with silicon since the mj900 was creating too much pressure. I was getting a bit of a leak even with a hose clamp. I'm very curious to see how these pellets will perform.

Sorry to hear about the loss Tran. I'm dealing with issues as well but no real loss to this point, just an annoyance.

Thank you. It was painful losing all that fish but there wasn't much I can since I was out of town. Good luck with your tank, I hope you get things turned around.

Joined the thread. Sorry to hear about youyr tank. Very interested in the pellets

Marty

Hi Marty, welcome! :)

The pellets are starting to look really puffy so hopefully I'll start to see some results soon.

Hi Tran, sorry to hear about the losses. The new fish look great.

What are you feeding the Bartletts?

Thanks Andrew. I'm currently feeding formula 1 and prime flakes 3x a day via an Ehiem auto feeder and mysis/krill every other day. They seem to eat everything I throw in the tank. Not a picky eater whatsoever.

So the idea with Anthis is to feed the flake food 2 or three times a day via an auto feeder. Then again they will eat when you personally feed the tank once, or every other day?

Marty
