It seems that facebook login is required to download or read this section? Is there any way to host our paper somewhere where it can be accessed easily? Thanks :)
 
Yah, I was really excited when I found it (thanks for ALL the hard work btw!) but then the website wanted me to pay $8... I really want to read it all, but I also throw pennies around like manhole covers...
 
I did not even know about the money involved. Greg and i wrote this paper to be available for free to everybody :(

I reported this thread to mods also.
 
I just clicked on it and it came up fine. No passwords and no request for money. Weird.

Oh, now I see, you have to login to see the full version. Where was this paper originally published (what site was it on)?

Hmmm, since the link doesn't appear to have changed, I'd say scribd.com has changed how they do business.

I'm guessing that is what happened as well because I'm the one that found that copy of it and I know it was the full copy of it when I changed the link several months back (site that was hosting the previous version apparently went under).

Let me find another copy of it and update the link :).
 
Changed the link back to the original carlosreef link which seems to be working again for the time being.

Marina, would you mind if we make the FAQ into an RK article, that way we can avoid these problems that keep popping up with linking to versions hosted on 3rd party websites? :)
 
Please do. I am sure she wanted you to since she was the one who brought this thread up in the first place. I used this not too often lately but really dislike the last host and now cannot access it at all unless I give them permission to access my email and post under my name. (I tried to access it last night after view this thread). They request permission for this if you try to view it log in on Facebook. It was really weir and crazy. I guess they just want to get pay 8 dollars a month. No one in their right mind give them the three permissions they requested.
 
Its also possible the pay thing was a result of all the traffic that article started getting as a result of being linked on here :). Its changed now though, actually back to the URL which it was hosted on for years which seems to be working again. So right now its just a simple PDF download. The site its hosted on now says its only a temporary one until a new one is setup though so who knows how long that could last, could be tomorrow could be 3 years from now. :)
 
Thank you for fixing the link. It will be great to have this paper as part of RK magazine. I have asked for this to be done before, as it was weired to give folks a link to plumberswife.com site...not joking.
 
Awesome, shouldn't be any problem getting it up as an RK article :D. I've already been talking to our Team RCers who handle all the RK stuff. Who knows why its never been before but I agree, its a good idea.

Might be just a little bit as there is some tech work being done by the admins which will require them to take down RK for a few days. :)
 
Once I get home I'll check and see if every thing's there and save it. Once I have it, I can work from my copy and won't have to work from the link. I just hope it's still good this evening. If not I'll check here. We'll git-er-done.
 
I'll keep an eye on this thread. If there are things that need work done to them, we'll figure that out. I haven't seen what I'm getting into yet since I'm at work. Don't scare me away.

Really we have a little time to get this done. With RK being down for a little bit, we can't format it into an article anyway. Let's try to do this right. Marina, Greg, since this is your's let me know how you feel about anything that comes up in this thread. I'm guessing this is your baby, and it will be credited as such.
