This one is interesting. I think it has potential

Only rich people can make house like that with a tank built in. It's really nice and I like the one in front of the sink, I'm not feeling any cool about the on infront of the stove because it seems a heat factor for the tank.

Thats not even close to being true. If you take some time, DIY and a little imagination, it would surprise you what you can do to you home. The look of that wall has nothing to do with being rich at all.

I like that stand, glassbox. I think 2 tanks is too much on that stand. If it were me, I'd keep the longer tank, and place it slightly offcenter and to the right - have the end of the tank closest to the wall about 1/4 of the way in.

I agree. I do like the stand, and his angels but it would look much better with one and offset.

Sorry guys, thought it was modern, didn't mean to p!ss in your cheerios

Dude...I would say half the TANKS here in this thread are not modern but thats isn't really a big deal. Your post looks like an ad or like someone said above, "plug". This thread was also about modern "Reef tanks", not regular looking calcium reactors. If it were a modern looking calcium reactor though, Im sure people would have loved to see it :)

And I don't eat cheerios, so no need to apologize...those were not my cheerios you pee'd in.

apple jacks, here :D

agreed, if the reactor, were modern, we would comment on that.

fwiw they were some cool reactors :) but I do see the point.

glassbox,
That picture of Atoll's reef is insane. I absolutely love the two systems separated like that.

One day it is my dream to do a tank like that where one side is a reef and the other side a predator tank.
the stand is sweet too. love how the bracing on the tanks and the sandbed kind of match the forms and colors in the stand.

imagine if the grey part of that stand was extruded to be a couch hehehe

This thread should be combined with the Japanese Tank thread from earlier.

Check out these tanks from Japan:
http://www.trio-corp.jp/aquarium/vivaria_tank_5.html

and these, especially the "upright tank" with a built in upstream refugium:
http://homepage2.nifty.com/aqua-nics/syouhin-annai.html

I'm going to have myself a long good think about that upstream refugium. I got a lot of space around my 260g system, even an basement with all the equipment, still. I got this gal saying I'm not allowed!!! to drag anymore "garbage" inhouse.

hey guys love the thread. I wish I had seen it before I built my last tank... A custom 70g starphire look down tank. not modern but something a bit different...

this pic is just before adding the rock

and this one is just after finishing the aquascaping

I still have to make the doors

after reading this thread from start to finish now want to scrap the bulky light hood I made and make one smaller and sleeker or as small and as sleek as you can make a Luminarc III... LOL

whatta think?
