Hey Strendo just made a new stand out of the same stuff its real easy to work with and looks great
Cheers Chris

Do you have any pics of your stand? How did you make it?

Hey Justin,
I work for the Aussie distributor for a product called ITEM, It is extruded aluminium profile that comes from Germany. It is used in the automation and manufacturing industries. Basically a big meccano set. There are several other suppliers Minitec, Robot units, 8020, AME systems and others. Heres a couple of link to items website.

I will post pics of my stand later.
Cheers Chris

ITEM is very cool, but AO made a poor choice on the panels IMO. You can have glass, aluminum, laminate, wood...They even have sound insulating material and mesh.

Very cool stuff! Too bad there are no distributors in Canada though :( I would have certainly considered it for my new stand I am building in a week. Looks like very nice stuff to work with.

Glassbox-design,

Not to be too off topic here, but what happened to your build thread? I'm looking forward to seeing how it goes.

Hey guys,
Exactly what i'm thinking I have made the basic frame and am trying to figure out what to clad it with. We have used it to make display stands for different companies for trade shows and the like and have used all sorts to cover it with too many choices. Check out the following link http://www.8020.net/T-Slot-4.asp
Cheers Chris

Chris tough decision! I think I would go with raw metal, solid laminate, or a combination with glass.

AVP, the tank is up and running. Our build can be seen through our blog.

Here's a recent shot... Although not modern in design, I find Butterflies to be beautiful and their incorporation, into reef aquariums definitely follows the "pushing the boundary" ideal.

Hey guys,
Was also thinking about maybe a frosted glass covering as in what people use for glass splashbacks on kitchen would be expensive though. Tank looks awesome and great website as well.

besides, I am using the Solana Orb, and love it. I saw all the hits it took in the first few pages of this thread. :)

However, I think it has its place in modern art, if used in the right situation. It has style, unlike many other lightig options in the industry.
