wow, a few light sources go a long way when everything is polished like that.

love the look and unified color scheme. nice warm lighting.
if your place has similar lighting, some nice blue bulbs would stand in sweet stark contrast.

The lighting is very similar but not so much spot lights...more like track lighting. We may change some of them though. Our place is not as polished as that. Close but not quite as much. We plan on really only having one hanging painting and a clock on the walls and nothing more. One of the reasons we decided on this place was how beautiful the walls looked without any decor. It was nice to see an empty space that already had so much character and style. Our only concern is making sure we compliment that character and not take away from it. Hence the minimal Mid Century Modern seating.

marlon17, Good luck on your cool project.
What makes you want to set this one up?
Why is the tank short than the table or stands?
Why not have fill the space?
What kind of lighting would hold like that? How many gallon is it?

Thanks...nanocube...I am going crazy with modern designs and I want to create something different. I consider my tank as an accent furniture in the living room. The tank dimension will be 36x24x18 rimless around 60g plus 40g sump. I made the tank shorter for several reasons. First, I love to see the clean lines of the stairs, a longer tank will block some part of it. 2nd, I can't maintain a bigger tank it's too much for me. Lastly, it's a plus for an extra space inside the cab, a chiller, a reserviour tank or a quarantine tank can be added there. The stand can be use also as a table...well some part of it. I can add something like an accent piece, it depends on my mood..maybe a ceramic coral or a plant or a table lamp.

As for the lights, a desk lamp besides the tank makes you think that you didn't place the light for the tank. Do you know what i mean? It serves as an accent lighting in the living room or something... like the others here we are all trying to create a different approach with lightings.

I was thinking to attach one of this to an adjustable desk lamp.

You know I forgot to mention that this is still outside too. There is a front gate at the street and then this courtyard before the front door of the building. The lighting at night in this court yard is incredible. Not that it makes any difference really :)

Justin awesome furnitures you got there!

i just want to ask is the le Corbusier Chaise Longue comfy?
i can imagine you layback on that chair while looking at your new tank.

Justin,

Based on the entrance it immediately made us think of a raw concrete stand, say ~8in tall. You could even give it an industrial art appeal by jutting out steel gears and machinery in a select area. (difficult to word, will see if I can find an image of something similar)

Lots off the ideas we have would need a closet or storage space to plumb through the wall... so get those pics up of your actual place (even if it's not finished) it would help a lot :p

Caution...black/white/red combo is tough to pull off and can be too matchy-matchy. Completely depends on the individual space, but keep an eye out for it.

marlon17, yes the Le Corbusier Chaise lounge in quite comfortable. I love how it adjusts up and down.

glassbox-design, I like the concrete idea but I would prefer to stick with wood to keep things easier for me. Although I can picture the industrial art appeal and I love that idea.

I hear you about the black/white/red combo. We were having a hard time with that combo in our last place. I think it was to "matchy-matchy" as you said. Thats not something we are set on. We have to wait until we move in a few weeks from now and see where we go with things.

these so-called modern chairs, couches, and buildings do not look comfortable

Im interested to know what is not comfortable looking about them? What chairs are we talking about?

If its the Le Corbusier Chaise lounge, you have obviously never lay on one ;)

as long as they feel comfortable, that's alright :)

Wow....c'mon guys don't let this thread die! I'm loving these examples!

Here's some shots of mine. A bit has changed since these pics. I'm doing an inwall 210 downstairs and was thinking of using brick for the wall???? But I want front access so maybe brick and laminite flooring on that wall?

Anyway....enjoy ;)

Contents:

Calcium Reactor w/C02 tank
Controller
Ph Controller
2 - 250w ballasts
1 - VHO ballast
Power Bar
Power Strip

I was getting nervous and running out of room under the tank so I built that until I get the 210 up and running ;)

stunning work Tony and nmbeg
this is not a modern shot, but I have a very similiar controller/powercenter/laptop setup as you Tony ;D
