I like this set-up very much..except for the orange chair :) Just not a huge fan of the chair's design, and while I love orange it detracts a bit from the tank which should be the focal point. Just my two bits...for whatever its worth :p That said, I love how this tank-set up/living space is a very functional design. If I ever get my own place, I might just 'borrow' this design for a tank set-up.

Coseal;

Can you explain your cabinet framing? It looks like finish grade plywood or a hardwood, 3/4"? Along with inset melamine doors with handles from Ikea :cool: Is there any additional framing for support? Also, where did you get your tank. I ask cause I'm in Northern Virginia.

Nice!!!!!

check the build thread out has all you seek! the ikea doors were a great value and saved alot of time!

I decided modern, minimalist, and ultra-low nutrient weren't enough...so I took out the water and everything in it:

Anyone have good recommendations for MCM-style furniture that would hold a smaller nano aquarium. I just purchased the Innovative Marine Nuvo 16g aquarium. The plan was to have it replace the 12g nanocube on the counter between the kitchen and dining area. However, when I add the small acrylic stand that comes with the tank, it is a bit overwhelming on that counter and just looks too big. It looks fine without the stand and the tank sitting directly on the counter, but I really want to use the stand since I like the looks of it. I have a nook in the wall in the dining area that would be the perfect size for a nano tank. I currently have a metal rack there that I have been meaning to replace since it doesn't complement the mid-century modern decor. What I am looking for is some type of sturdy piece of modernish furniture that would support the weight of the tank, water, and rocks. I'd say everything would weigh between 150-175lbs. In the dining area, I have a white Saarinen tulip pedestal table and Eames side chairs. The kitchen which is separated from the dining area by a bar has white cabinets, white appliances, and a darkish blue countertop. Walls are a lighter blue shade with a dark blue accent wall along one side of the kitchen. All art work is vintage advertising art. I ahve posted some pics of the type of tank I got below as well as some pics of the type of furniture I have in the area. These are not my actual pieces as I have apparently misplaced my camera...again :lol: Any suggestions would be helpful. And the nook area measures about 40" wide by 22" deep. The tank measures 24" wide by 12" deep. Thanks!

The first pic of chairs is the what the top of my chairs look like but I have a different base. The second pic is of the same chair (wrong color) with the base my chairs have.
