Monti Cap vs Green Slimer

My Monti Cap is starting to grow around a piece of my slimer. The slimer kills the cap's tissue that is adjacent to the slimer but cap keeps growing around it. The slimer is well encrusted on the rock so there is no moving it.

If I leave the cap it will completely shade the base of the slimer and kill all of it that is under the cap. Will the pieces of the slimer above the cap survive with a dead base? Will RTN or STN set in on the shaded areas and eventually spread up the coral to the unshaded pieces?

Here is a current pic.

Hard to say for sure what will happen i am guessing the base will die but the top will keep growing. Beautiful monti by the way.

Thanks for the compliments. That cap is growing about 1" a month. It's less than 1/2" away from the front glass now. Unfortunately, I'll need to frag off the front which will ruin its look.

I'll probably let nature take its course with the slimer like flyyyguy suggested. If I need to I can frag the back branch of the slimer and move it. Should be a good experiment. Maybe I'll learn something in the process.

I had the same issue with my green cap vs green slimmer. what ever on top of the cap will survive and continue to grow, however any thing under the cap will eventually dye. I would cut off any branches that you want to keep and live the main stem to holdup your remaining.

Here is my:

Here's how it turned out. 2 1/2 months later.

It's kind of like a game of paper rock scissors. Slimer stings back monti. Monti goes around it and covers it.

The coral under the cap still looks good but that may change once the slimer is completely surrounded by the cap.

what's wild here is you got a slimer cap war going on,but no problem with what look's like a hammer coral right next to the slimer.. Hmmm...

The frogspawn/hammer is still a few inches away from the slimer. It looks closer in the picture than it really is. No sign of it putting out sweepers yet.
