Montipora proximity

Just now getting around to mounting frags acquired from December. Purple haze monti, and rainbow monti... Do these, or any montipora's for that matter get along touching each other?

Not necessarily :love1: but just :twitch: :rolleye1: ?

I have three different monti caps that are touching each other right now. None of the three are showing any signs of "battle" where they are touching and in fact, I think they are all growing together. Just need a little more time to tell. I am hoping for some new coloration out of it, but I am sure one will win. If yours aren't physically touching, I would say they are more than likely to get along. But as they grow, they will eventually touch unless you keep them trimmed back. And once they do I suspect one will take over the other.

I also have touching Monti's. I actually think it looks great and makes them more unique. If you can get them to start growing vertical vs horizontal that would look awesome!

I've found that encrusting montis like you mentioned will grow to each other and leave a small gap between themselves.

They generally grow on top of each other. I would give them room to grow, but if they don't hey generally are ok next to other. As above you can get some cool growth patterns when they are in close quarters with other montis.

I would strongly suggest reading through the many wonderful and informative posts on this forum before buying any more frags, and fish.

^ Ouch, that was hot. I think I'm in need of something other than ointment, take me straight to the burn unit.

I thought we were just talking about mounting frags but the fish thing is a whole different ball game 1MP3R1AL. Make sure you read the sticky about mounting fish correctly as they wiggle around a lot so you need to stick em good...........:reading:

Some pics would be cool (of the montis not the fish)

I was planning on mounting a few nice Cuttlefish on my overflow, and just throw my Monti's right on top of them. I think the colors would really stand out. How does one mount them, just superglue, that's all it really needs?

Should I put these guys in my hang on the back filter or in my rave LEDS?
