Well the tunze's are more concentrated then the Vortech's. A friend of mine uses tunzes and they are definetly nice. I know from experience with the Vortech's that they do not blast anything but are really nice. However, there are alot of issues with the Seio however I personally haven't had either. I would say once again, get what fits your personal needs.

Hey jay for now I will be using d 2 Mjmods 1200 as soon as i can figure out a way to secure them w/o them being on the rock work or against any strutire that will make them vibrate. But certainly need some aethetics change and perhaps in the future vortex will acomplish that . If anyone has pics of vortex setups please post Thnaks

In 12 years I have never had a problem with a Rio pump, in fact I still have some of the old ones I use for mixing duty. They work, but there are better products out there, you will just pay the price as with any quality product. I use Tunze products now, but they do put a serious dent in your pocketbook. TAAM products like Rio and Seio pumps have served me well over the years, it will be fine until you can upgrade to a more versatile electronic pump.

gasman. I was gonna order magnets from mjmods as well but they have it out of stock plus I need more low profile.
I tried the magfloat30 and it's very weak and end up using 2 joined together and I can't really position it well since it doesn't have a good grip.
I bought the magfloat-350 yesterday and it's great.
-All I use was 1/4" acrylic (a added a small piece at each base for more adhesive support)
- plastic bolt and wing nut at HD
-sealant for aquarium
-super glue
-a 8x10 lexan at Lowes
I cut 2"x2" lexan and put a 1/4" thick sealant on the PH itself (1/8" should be fine)
It is very adjustable now and you can easily hide the magnet once you know how you want it set up.

I have a much smaller tank (oceanic 30 gallon), with a closed loop on it. I an running an eheim 1262 through an oceans motions squirt to get flow to all areas of the tank. Keep in mind that the plumbing pieces add up (5 bulkheads, countless ball valves, unions, elbows, etc) I probably spent over $150 on plumbing pieces alone.

But if you buy the right equipments the first time, you won't be buying again in the near future. Do it once and do it right.

xtm undesrtood but not ready o spend 1500 on flow right now so I'm trying to resolve d problem with a couple of hundred dollars and re-evaluate my system in 6 months .
Been heaqring great thing about mjmods and pr=erhaps after d upgrade i'll use them in a frag setup. Thnaks for d info

seio 1500 aka 1500gph
tunzee 6100 4000gph..
so you'd need 2 and half seios for every tunze, thats..alot more WATT usage..and alot more ugly powerheads in your tank.
I'm running 2x6100s w/out the controllers works just fine. I had seios before, these are smaller, last longer.. i've got a box of busted seios, use low watts and put out all the flow my tank can handle.

hey boys I've been running this mods for 2 wks and yes flow is great BUT they are intrusive and from time to time have a chattering noise so, most likely i will be upgrading sooners than later to the superior products. Its been a learning experience but certainly for my size of setup and expectations only a product like tunze or vortex its going to fit the bill.
I've tried all d DIY instructions and built them according to instructions still some noise issues and just not IMO the way they are ment to be.

Not sure if the pics showed up in the PM I sent you, so I'll post here as well.
Ok, here's some pics. The first one is how the mod sits on the bracket. At the moment, I just have it facing straight ahead, but I can rotate it about 160 degrees.

This is off the bracket, it's just on screw that holds it on, so it's not real complicated. I used a grill lighter to heat the acrylic and make the bends.

All you need is a strip of acrylic. Find the depth you want the mod to sit at and add about 2-3 in. at the bottom. This will give you enough room to bend the acrylic to the angle you want and leave room for the mod to rotate. Once you get the platform bent, mark the acrylic at the top of your tank. Measure the width of the top of your tank and mark that, plus 1/4in. so when you make the bend, it'll give you a little room to play. Then determine how far down the outside of your tank you want the bracket to sit.

Next, you just need a small enough piece of acrylic as a base for your mod. I bought a stainless steal bolt and wing nut for this. I drilled the hole for the bolt, then used a counter sink so it would sit flush. I superglued the bolt into place, then superglued the plate to the bottom of the mod. I lined up where I wanted the mod to sit on the bracket and then drilled the hole for it.

All you need to do now, is put the mod on the bracket, set your angle, tighten the wing nut and you're golden. You may want to put some rubber bands around the botom bend where the bracket sits against your glass and where it sits on the edge of your tank. Mine "walked" from one end of the tank to the other until I put the bands on.

I was having a headache myself with the noise. It's just adjustments though. I thought it was a waste of my money until I backtracked on what I did wrong...
such as the prop has to be like 1/4" from the stropper,
magnet and prop now balanced, this seem to be the main problem for me.
btw, my mag5 is much louder than my mod, I have to put my ear on the glass and hear a hum
