gasman059,
I have an AGA180rr which is similar in size to yours. I just upgraded my flow to accomodate SPS corals and couldnt be happier!
For starters I built a closed loop system. I just went over the side with the intake, pumped it with a coralife 1270 (gph), and returned it through a sea-swirl (1"). L O V E the sea-swirl.
Next come the vor-techs!
I have two of them on opposite sides basically pointing directly at each other. No wires, no brackets, TONS of flow...and a very W I D E flow at that!
Picture what my tank looks like with the vor-techs cranked up, and that sea-swirl going back and forth. Oh yea...I have the SS mounted in the center of the rear between the overflows. It is an awesome setup IMO. Polyps are flailing (sp.?) everywhere. Heck, my skimmer is even working better. I guess its because not as much crap settles in the main display!
The vor-techs are a very nice product (and service for that matter) and liked the clean look of them. They can be slightly problematic the get situated correctly to avoid noise from missallignment. Once theyre broken in and adjusted, you wont be sorry you purched them.
Oh yeah...my main return pump is a Mag24. I have already bought an Eheim 1262 to replace that big 'ol energy hog, and move some of that flow out of my sump.
I think I have enough flow to keep just about anything.
