gasman059,

I have an AGA180rr which is similar in size to yours. I just upgraded my flow to accomodate SPS corals and couldnt be happier!

For starters I built a closed loop system. I just went over the side with the intake, pumped it with a coralife 1270 (gph), and returned it through a sea-swirl (1"). L O V E the sea-swirl.

Next come the vor-techs!
I have two of them on opposite sides basically pointing directly at each other. No wires, no brackets, TONS of flow...and a very W I D E flow at that!

Picture what my tank looks like with the vor-techs cranked up, and that sea-swirl going back and forth. Oh yea...I have the SS mounted in the center of the rear between the overflows. It is an awesome setup IMO. Polyps are flailing (sp.?) everywhere. Heck, my skimmer is even working better. I guess its because not as much crap settles in the main display!

The vor-techs are a very nice product (and service for that matter) and liked the clean look of them. They can be slightly problematic the get situated correctly to avoid noise from missallignment. Once theyre broken in and adjusted, you wont be sorry you purched them.

Oh yeah...my main return pump is a Mag24. I have already bought an Eheim 1262 to replace that big 'ol energy hog, and move some of that flow out of my sump.

I think I have enough flow to keep just about anything.:)

I can't really see anything wrong with yours. My center rod is a little longer, but if your prop stays put with that length, then don't worry about it. Good luck with it, I'm sure you'll be very happy.

Its not straight. Thats why its noisy. Theres also no room for it to slide, which is why its chattering.

IMO, the newer impellar build works much nicer. Those are the old style shrouds too, much longer, not nearly as nice flow, and dont allow you to use both bushings. The bell housings work better.

wat wat and wat. just recently got this from mjmods.com the newest hihg flow system kit x 2.
can't understand shroud lenght/ ( just got it three wks old)
Can't understand d mechanics of the bushings.
By the way i di two mod one works perfectly fine with the same shrouds so , i don't get it??

photobucket.com- register free then upload your pics then copy and paste from the img (3 form d top) u shadow the line after // copy and paste. On your thread press IMG- a new window appears and u paste to it and viola!!!!!!

Good shrouds

If yours dont look like that, theyre the older style housing. Up until about a week ago, you could order either. The Bell housing is significantly better as far as flow goes, and allows you to use both bushings, so it reduces noise somewhat.

same thing i have buddy, anything else? by the way how did u attached the overflow hanging device that originally came with d mod, is it superglued or wat. I was considering doin that but will limit some of my movement in the future.

gasman. you should be able to slide theprop w/magnet on the precut stainless steel rod. I have about a 1/2" play.

just put your prop assembly w/magnet to the shroud.
*I superglue my black and red piece to the cap itself and I find it helps that the whole rod doesnt spin. if you do this, please make sure it is center. you can use silicon if you want*

you just use your fingers and see how much it hit the stopper, then slide it back (rod still not moving) to see how much clearance you have between the rpop and the stopper

the clip that came with MJ's can be superglued. this does add vibration

I will 1- try the old method with d black tubing
2- expose more rod( should i move d prop back)
the other burning q is should i use d balck and red endcap on d other end or not?
Hey evil thanks man, really awsome of u to help out this much buddy.
The curious thing is that i built another thats currently in my tank and so far so good three days old, the same excat setup. Anyways onward will continue to post

here's my setup so u get and idea.

here's my setup so u get and idea.

this pic is when the tank was 4 moths old, currently as u might have guessed thinking of sps mostly towards d middle but need some more dounuts LOL$$$$$$

Very nice tank!!

We have similar aquascaping in that we built up the reef to hide the overflows, and dropped it down a bit in between. This will allow for a sea-swirl to blow back and forth perfectly! It looks as tho you have enough room on the sides to mount pumps (ie. vor-techs) too! :D

Anyway, as soon as I can figure what is wrong with this dang camera battery, I'll post those pics. I cant get them to download off the camera! Keeps saying auto shut-off mode.

Wish me luck!

Waldo
