Mountain Madness - My full floor reno's with 300 gallon centrepiece.

Terrific. Such a grandiose work, it inspires. The luminaire lifting mechanism is very good, it will be convenient. There is an excellent program for Radion. Do you plan to use it?

The firgelli track actuators are fantastic. I am using the same thing on my light rack. I love the work you have done so far.

I think my melanarus wrasse eats them. I used to have a few, till got got a couple of mels, now I have none.

I think you're right. I have one too and it's constantly picking at the rocks. I haven't seen it actually eat those starts but I would certainly pick him out of a lineup if I had to choose. :0)

Thank-you! I will start with the Coral Lab SPS plan and go from there.
Glad to have you following along.

Thanks for the kind words!
The actuators are great. Really is not a hard project to put together and it makes it so easy to have great access over the tank.

A few shots of some updated work on the sump. I still have a lot of cable management to get underway in there but at least I can walk in front of the sump without tripping over power bars. :D

Just be careful with the humidity, I know in my fishroom/laundry room the washer/dryer has slowly gotten corrosion everyplace any sort of scratch occurred in the paint.

I just recieved this from Amazon. It is their best selling unit with hundreds of excellent reviews. This model will pull 70 pints of water out of the air in 24 hours. You can use the tank or plumb it into a drain for direct drainage. I will let you know how it does in the fish room.

This also just arrived. It is my Tradewinds 1/3 HP Super chiller rated for 400 gallons. I could not find the actual graph specs with drop down temperatures but I did read a lot of overwhelming positive reviews from individuals living in much warmer climates (many here on Reef Central). I don't think it will have to ever drop more then about 5 - 7 degrees F at the hottest time of the year. I am going to put this in the garage by the mixing/holding station to keep the heat and noise out of the house. The only issue is connecting the controller to the APEX Energy Bar. That would require about a 25 foot extension cord. I could go with a very heavy duty cord or perhaps run some BX cable over.

I am a very big fan of DC pumps. I have a Vectra L1 and a Vectra M1 in my sump and they are silent. The L1 is running at 100% as just a return. The M1 is supplying the GFO and GAC reactors as well as a Coralife 36 watt UV. I have just purchased an Aqua UV Classic 120 watt with the wipers, so the 36 watt is coming off. Looks like this (it is in shipment).

I will mount the Aqua UV up on the wall and have the return pump supply water through it, out to the chiller in the garage, and back into the aquarium. Unfortunately the Vectra L1 will not be enough to handle this job.
I have used the Reef Central Head Loss calculator and the Red Dragon RD3 won't handle it either. I really do not want to add any noise at all so I am seriously looking at the Abyzz 400 and 200 pumps.

I know there are far less expensive AC pumps that can handle the task such as Sequence etc but the noise is not acceptable.
I have spent a lot of money and time in designing this tank so that it is silent in the room. So far I have done fairly well. I am not happy with the dual Maxspect Gyres in the sense I can hear them but at least I can dial them down at night (if I can ever figure out how to program the control unit).:(

Any feedback on the Abyzz pumps from owners would be great. Its an expensive choice so I want to be sure.

Did some more measurements as well as reviews and decided on the A400 model. Just ordered it online. I sure hope it's as good as I read.

These are the pictures from the realtor. Everything is yellow, worn out and just very old. We are going to fix that.

The front hall is old school like the kitchen was. Old very outdated tiles, worn out and torn grass cloth wallpaper over everything. It needs to be stripped back to the drywall and started all over.

This is upstairs looking down to the from entrance.
The old cedar railings are worn out and have horrible smoked plexiglass in it. The fan and old lighting have got to go as well as the popcorn ceiling.

From the living room looking out. Baseboards and door trim are all wrong. Paint is dark and from the early 2000's. All lights were turned on and a flash to take these pictures.

First step is stripping the wall paper and removing smoked glass panels. What a night mare! This has been on since 1978. Dust everywhere.

I am going to replace these doors with something very special.

The popcorn ceiling was painted over. It will be very hard to remove.

The walls are too high and the stairs get in the way with ladders, so we had to rent scaffolding. When we scrape the ceiling it will be a necessity.

1980's style fan removal. Kind of sketchy ladder use, bought I got it done.

Rough layout of rock in my tank.

I have gone with less rock and more intricate aquascapes in the past, but it has always been difficult to add corals. This time I am looking to have more room for a maximum amount of coral.

Again the tank looks so blue from my iPhone. I will get out the DSLR and shoot in RAW so i can post better pictures. Well at least try too. The upper door is just temporary. I will build a new door the same as the shaker style doors on my kitchen and bar cabinets. We have had a lot of crappy weather here and my table saw and compound mitre saw are under snow (and a tarp) outside on the deck.

Took some rock out and added the quarantined corals. Here is a picture of it right now. I took it with my Canon 70D instead of my iPhone. Big difference.

I will try to only take photos with the Canon from now.

Looks amazing the tank and the house. Keep up the great work.

How long have you had the Achilles for ?

Thanks! I have had the Achilles since the beginning of December. I did a very thorough QT on all fish including Tank Transfer Method, copper and hyposalinity depending on species or what was working or needed. He has grown and is eating very well. He eats pellets, nori, mysis and Mastick.
