why go sumpless?

For me it was just easier. If i had a pre-drilled tank I would go with a sump. I tried an overflow box when i had my 100 gallon up and running, hated it. I just feel like it's easier maintenance and assembly. No need for all the pluming or an another expensive pump running to return the water. Less area to clean as well.

There is a downside to it though:

#1 you have to look at all the equipment in the display... not so bad if you purchase equipment that is aesthetically pleasing.

#2 No fuge, unless you have the useless HOB ones, which are useless for anything other than growing pods in my opinion.

I live in a small town where no one really knows much about saltwater. Them being able to see all the equipment it takes to run the tank is part of the wow factor. I kind of like it.

I'm kind of confused on where I said anything about choosing something harmful to my fish? Why have you insisted on attacking me since the start of this thread?

Sorry you feel attacked, it was not meant that way...you made a statement about foregoing a sump but getting a bigger tank, I asked why?
Your response about less to clean and your friends seeing your equipment as a "wow factor" is stuff we hear all the time...that is why I posted the head banger...

I apologize too. No I didn't say to get a bigger tank, that was another member. The wow factor I refered to was just me saying I kind of like seeing the equipment. Sorry for the confusion!

lol, okay kids, I promise never to use my phone again with rc...ugh...my bad....

Lol! I always like experienced members input. Is there anything you think I should add to the tank to make it more successful? The only thing I think I'm really missing out on is a place to grow macro and maybe have some extra LR.

Uh oh, Brian is here.

I had a 29 gallon years ago that did not even have a skimmer and I consider it successful. Coral growth was great and the fish were fat and happy. I think you're doing fine.

And there's a blast from the past! Nice to see you!
