Moving a tank for floor renovations

Hi everyone:

I'm looking to replace the floors in my living room but realize I will need to move my tank. I'm assuming the reno will take 2-3 days. My current setup is:

90 gallon display tank
20 gallon sump

50-80lbs of live rock
4 coral frags ( Acan lord, torch coral, zoa and frogspawn)
2 Ocellaris Clownfish
1 Royal dottyback
2 chromis

I was planning on draining all the water into a few buckets

1 bucket with all the live rock
1 bucket with just water
1 bucket with chromis and clownfish
1 bucket with dottyback

My questions is how long can I keep the fish and live rock in these buckets and will I need to add anything to them such as heaters, powerheads and/or filters?

You might be able to get one of those furniture carpet sliders under your stand. If so, do that and drain as much as possible into buckets, slide it over, replace water, and return to the original spot once that section is done. If you are on hardwood, not sure how that would work out.

You can keep them in buckets indefinitely as long as you provide water movement and a heater. I kept my livestock in buckets (brute garbage cans) for almost a week when I upgraded my tank.

thanks for the response. I'm gonna be using brute cans as well

I would add a piece or two off live rock to the containers holding your fish for some biofiltration.

Yeah, I figured that part was a given but definately worth mentioning. I would put as much of your live rock in with the fish as possible. I had mine spread out across 3 Brute cans with all the fish in one with the majority of the live rock.
