moving tanks

i have a 180 and am moving it to a 265 gallon tank. what is the best way of doing this? i figured i could use a 150 gallon rubbermaid and put the fish in there with their water. and then transport them. would this possibly work? and for the rest of the 85 or so gallons of water would i have to use a r.o. water or could i get water from a already setup tank.

i think that would be the best bet also you could use the extra 85 gallon from another tank without a problem just for the initial setup then just change like 50 of it out like within the week....thats what i can see for now being your best bet....

Yes a large tub of water will work very well as a fish transport container ;) Just be sure and rig up some strong aeration.

This may sound silly but how are you going to lift a 150 gallon container full of fish and water? That thing will weigh close to 1500 lbs.

I've used the blue plastic barrels and a few coolers to move my 215. If you have a hoods in your area they sell them for 10 buck just make sure you get the ones that had soda in them and not some other chemical.

no i have a truck and will put the fish in the rubermaid and then pump the water in there into the 265 then put the fish in 5 gallon buckets then pour them into the tank.

well everything went almost as planned. but everything turned out to be godd in the end. added some more fish today and they are all looking superb
