MP40 Problem - Flashing Red and Green

Woke up this morning to see my MP40 not working and flashing Red and Green, Did a power cycle, tried a hard and soft reboot, checked the wet side prop which was spinning freely by hand. Nothing will stop it from flashing Red and Green.... Anyone have this issue before? I'm assuming this is a red ring of death and It needs to be sent back to Ecotech... Bought this new from BRS 6 months ago....

You get that error flashing when the motor cannot spin freely. When you power it up and at the same time hold a hand on the dry side, can you feel that the motor it first trying to spin but never gets the rotation going? Could be the bearings inside them which you could open up and fix yourself.

That being said, since it is only 6 months old and still under warranty I would contact Ecotech support and talk to them. They are usually very good to deal with.

Yea, just got a response from Ecotech, said to clean the wet side by soaking it and disassembling. Going to try that this afternoon. They said the red/green flashing is a stall mode.

I tried holding the motor and resetting, motor didn't feel like it was trying to spin. I will post what happens after I clean it tonight.

You should be able to run the motor without the wet side with no problem. If that does not work the issue is with the dry side (probably still not a bad idea to clean the wet side).

Ok, I'm going to run home on lunch in an hour, Going to soak the wet side, and I'll try and run the dry side alone, see if it even tries to spin. Thanks for the incite!!

Ok, Pump does turn on without the wetside attached, so it is the wet side. Soaking it now. I did disassemble and found some shavings from either the bearing or the screw, which are a little concerning. The motor by itself also seemed a little weak.... I'll soak the wet side for a while, then scrub and reassemble. I'll post an update later today.

Paul,

If you purchased the wetside only 6 months ago, you are under warranty. If the wetside continues to give you issues, please give our service department a call to have a warranty replacement sent out.

Update - Ecotech is sending me a new water side assembly through their SEP program. Should be here Monday, at which point I need to ship the old one back.

I'll post an update with how the process goes and how the new wet side operates.

Was planning on taking the plunge and buying a Radion Pro this Christmas, Think this warranty process will either push me to get a Radion or not... Was pretty irritated when I saw the pump fail, but so far Ecotech replacement has been pretty painless. I'll keep posting on the process.
