Ace,

I am running a MR3. According the directions I got with it, it says to set the static water level (with the air off) between 3 - 5" above the black box. Go to Andy's website, and you can download the manual.

i just got a new pump for my skimmer & it works great, it's a coralife turbosea 1740, the iwaki was a power hog !!

Steve 68 what is the power consumption differance?

Mar:rollface:

coralife pump uses 290 watt's compare to 340 from the iwaki.

this is where i run my water level i like a wet skim.

This pump looks identical to my Blueline 70HD with orange paint instead of the yellow. Power consumption is about the same also. It must be manufaqctured by Blueline/Panworld and marketed under Coral Life. What was the price on it Steve?

Just got my MRC-2 running, wow what a skimmer. Started pulling gunk out within minutes, I bet it will be really sucking the gunk out after a few hours. I definately can see how the pressure rated pumps do a lot better, my mag24 does the job but there arent as many bubbles. Still quite amazing compared to other skimmers I've seen.

He says welcome to the dark side because the rest of your house will be dark to afford the electric bill for all the pressure rated pumps.

That said, I love my MRC skimmer, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

Mike

FWIW if you put a becket powered by a pressure rated pump next to a dual pump needlewheel with a recirc pump you are looking at about the same amount of electricity used for about the same amount of skimming performance. All at a third to half of the cost for the skimmer and pump.

I'm sold, enough said. I thought the mag24 wasn't enough pump, then I realized the needle vavle was closed. muhaha. half a gallon of funk and counting. I can see the difference in the water clarity already.

Ok,

I need some input on plumbing my MRC CR3 dual calcium reactor. I tried a tee off the suction of the skimmer pump (Blueline HD70), but that just sucked all the water out of the reactor.

I have a tee on the discharge of my return pump (Sequence 1000 SW 3200), that I could use, but would that be too much? I wouldn't want all that pressure to channel the reactor media and minimize contact time.

Does the Iwaki MD20 pump on the reactor have enough draw to do an up and over?

Is there some type of self piercing device I could use to put a hole in the sump (Rubbermaid 100g stock tank) and draw from there?

I really need to get this reactor up and running.

Thanks,

Mike

Mike, if the reactor is sitting close enough to the sump the BL-20 probably can suck enough water to feed it. That is what I am doing. ...

Now that my MR2 is up and running, and my Mag24 is not throttled (aka the noise master) I am looking for another pump. I had it down to Panworld and GenX, but The Sequence Wahoo looks like the perfect pump at 12.4 psi. Anyone try one yet? I know Sequence has a great reputation, not sure how loud this one is.

Check this out:

Wahoo 1550gph 32' (12.4psi) 2.4A/265W 1" FNPT /
3/4" FNPT BaldorÃ"šÃ‚® TEFC Iwaki 70RLT

BTW I got yelled at because the waste bucket smelled like s**t yesterday afternoon. I told her that means its working. =P bwaha I love this thing.

Sequence are about as quiet as you can get. We haven't run any of those pumps on the skimmers yet, but according to the specs, they should be great. We are receiving some soon.

Ok, I got 5 gal of not so dirty water from mine yesterday (still tweaking).
I want to run it wet but how far open should the gate valve be?

How much air do I let in?

I started with the air all the way open and adjust. My goal is to have the bubbles just break over the collection cup, is that how I should have it set up?

it skimmed so much water yesterday that I almost ran my pump dry. please advise
