My Beckett's on my MR3 rattled as well, even when the Beckett was properly assembled (tabs in the notches). But the rattling didn't start until a couple of weeks after I started up the brand new skimmer. Anyhow, I superglued the Beckett to one half of the housing, dead silence ever since.

It did seem strange to me that they would be quiet initially, but start rattling a little while down the road.

Sellout, just make sure that you let the glue dry completely before you reassemble, otherwise you might not ever be able to get them apart again.

This is exactly what happend to me. Got a brand new injector assembly and it didnt start rattling until a few weeks (2 maybe) later.

I superglued the part together last night and let it dry overnight. Going to go assemble it now.

Okay, newbie inquiry: What's an MR?

My Reef Creations - maker of skimmers & reactors. Skimmer model numbers are known by MR

MR-1
MR-2
MR-3

Visual example, Wiskey's post just a third of the way down on this page.

I have the MRC small reef sump. Its been running under my tank for almost 3 years. I like it , but I also don't have any pics of it.

Need some advice.. I set up my MR- 2 w/ quick disconnect over the weekend. Is there any right wrong way to set up the intake and output of water that is going in/out of the skimmer?
Does it matter if micro-bubbles go into the skimmer from where the tanks overflows drain into??

Thanks,
J-

I have an MR2 also, great skimmer, you will be happy once it gets going. I wouldn't think the micro into the MR2 would hurt, and may help a little. Just keep the output above the water level of your sump, and the input as direct as possible with as few bends as you can manage. I used spaflex. It took mine a few hours to pull gunk out, but after 10 days or so since its been running it REALLY is getting some funk out. I can't believe the crap it gets out was always in my water..its nasty! ;)

Ooops, sorry. I forgot to sign up again. I was an MR-1 skimmer and dual nano CR owner for a few years and then moved to another state (to Florida from Indiana - good bye snow!!) and sold all. I am now a member again and have taken my pledge not to be deterred by the growing interest in NW skimmers. I bought an MR-2 from Eric (Ereefic) and though I don't have it hooked up yet, I know it will do the job on my 90g system. Ahh, I can breathe again.

Welcome Back!!

Just curious, can a MR 2 run on something like the Eheim 1262 pump? Or do you have to use the large external pumps?

I would think you could run one injector with that pump, but it wouldn't be as good as a pressure rated external pump.

Just my 2 cents.

I started to consider this skimmer but I am pretty sure I won't have room for an external pump :( everything will have to fit under the stand.

Opiy.. Your thinking is all wrong.. If you cant fit the MRC Skimmer under the tank then you need a bigger tank and stand not a smaller skimmer and pump !! (kidding of course)
I have heard of people running them pretty successfully with a Mag Drive pump.. (The same people also say running a mag with it will make it quieter too.)
just a thought..

I would think at least a Mag18 though. I use a Mag24 on mine, still want a Sequence Tarpon instead since it is pressure rated. The Eheim would work, but at maybe 30% efficiency. I figure I'm at 50-60% with the Mag24. I can see what the bubbles look like when people use pressure rated pumps, more and smaller bubbles.

Im running the Mag24 on my MR3 and it raises the temp 2-5 degree. I just order the GenX 55 like everyone, hopefully it will bring down the temp a bit.

This skimmer would go on a 120g system that I am slowly building up.

hitekfreak- I like the pics on your website. You took BB to a new level I think

I think MRC skimmer need a big pump to work well since you want your pump to force the water thru the beckett.

Thanks for the compliment.

here is an old picture of my MR-2 with a mag 18
it gave off to much heat & was 2 loud.
im glad i bought a pressure pump.
