Oh and PS. Raising or lowering the water level in the 1st chamber is yet another way to adjust the amount of air/water mix. There is quite a bit of effort required to a first time MRC user to learn the different ways to tweak the skimmer to get the optimal performance for your system:D

Creetin what i did was i made the holes bigger to let more air go through worked fine after that.
if u want u can go to wallmart & buy the pro ping-pon balls they are orange & they weigh a little more, only thing is u have to make a new shut off but it's easy to do.

My pump is making noise again.. This time it is coming from the front. I have the Gen-X 55 pump and last night it started making noise from the front where the White part screws into the blue part. (sorry for not knowing the actual names of these parts.)
Does anyone know if this is normal or fixable?
When I first go the pump it made noise and ended up just being the fan blades rubbing, but this is not the same noise..

Creetin:

With the 70rlt attached to my MR-2R with the air valves opened all the way on both injectors my ball did infact have the same issue you discribed.

This might be why Andy mentioned I not use the 70rlt without throttling it back. I decided to use the 70 somewhere else and get the blueline 55 to drive the skimmer.

Not sure if that helps you any, but atleast you know it isn't something you are just doing.

I dont think I am getting any more air bubbles then I did before it started to make any noise. I have the intake in the corner of the sump so not many bubbles make it into the pump.

I finally got around to ordering some upgrades from Andy. I picked up a 6"x6" riser extension and a second becket! Won't be able to get the second becket plumbed until next week or so, but I got the riser on tonight...

I'm not certain how much better it skims yet, but it sure looks impressive:lol:

Please excuse the extra wires, I have a few other projects going on in the wet room right now.

I just got my new MR-2 in the mail, today, along with a PCX-55HP pump. I've only got a 58 gallon tank, but decided to go ahead and get a really nice skimmer so I'll be future proofed in a few years if I ever decide to upgrade the tank. I haven't plumbed it yet, but will be doing so tomorrow. It will be a nice upgrade from my non-working CPR BakPak 2.

Since my tank and stand only 3' long, it's going to be a very tight fit without putting it directly in my sump, and even if I go that route, I'll have to get a larger sump... so I will probably end up having the skimmer set up outside of the stand.

Upgrading from this, to this..

The issue with air being too much on some waste containers has been resolved on newer waste containers by placing 2 ping pong ball assemblies on the larger WC's. This allows more air to flow through the containers and ultimately through the skimmer. If you would like to upgrade a WC-3 or WC-4 waste container to handle more air...contact me via email and I will let you know the easiest way to do it.

you need to show a picture of one:D

Thanks steve, bkv, and andy. I should have gotten the bigger WC4, but for some reason i thught hey 15 inches that should be good enough. LOL
I am dumping it daily. I love my mrc skimmer though, and i may take ya up on that andy.

I have an MR-2 and it is working great, only one little problem, I keep getting this "rattle" inside the beckett, anyone else have this or know the cause?

GR

Go back a few pages to here and scroll down to steve68's photo guide of how to fix the watchamagizmo:)

Well I have to say that the additional riser on the skimmer appears to be doing a great job! Normally the smell of the skimmate doesn't kill me, but tonight when I cleaned the skimmer, it really stunk and I noted that the skimmate was thicker based on how I normally skim.

I also broke down and spent the six minutes to do the U-tube mod that steve68 details. I am hoping that this is another good mod!

Im having some trouble with my MR-1 it keeps going crazy and overflowing even with the gate valve wide open. when I removed the injector. I noticed that te conection rotates at the point between the acrylic housing and the threaded part to connect to the skimmer body. it was allowing extra air into the injector. I called andy but he wasnt there. can anyone help?

Well if the injector and becket housing are still in tact and not broken or stripped, pull out the injector, wrap it with plumbers tape and screw it back in to where it's snug.

I hope I'm rading your post right...

im not specificly talking about the injector. I mean the whole injector housing. this part:

it is the very bottom part it rotates freely. it isnt attached to the acrylic housing.
