Yeah, that won't work... Sorry.

You need a good pressure rate pump, going from the sump, to the skimmer and then have the skimmer drain back into the sump. Then a second pump to return the water to the tank;)

No can do!!

Just run your return straight to the tank. Get a seperate pump (preferably a pressure rated pump) and plumb that from the sump to the skimmer. Run your drain from the skimmer back to the sump.

Are you sensing an echo in here:) At least we are giving you the same info and not suggestions on opposite side of the board:spin2: :twitch: :spin2:

The dart would make a nice closed loop pump. I have run a Gen-X 55hp and a blueline for my MR3 and they worked very well. The mag will get you started, but you will never see the skimmer work to it's true ability unless your running a pressure rated pump.

so basically i screwed up my plans and i need a 2nd pump either way? or can i t the skimmer off the dart and still use it for the return?

It needs a dedicated pump... Is this for the 280 or the bowfront? The mag might make a nice return or a back up pump down the road...

I would recommend an iwaki, Gen-x or Blueline pump for you skimmer. You will not regret it:D

night it's for the bowfront. down the road for the 280.

my old skimmer p/o me last night when i woke up to a dry sump 30-40 gallons of water on the floor. thank god i was ready to due a water change. and that the carpet was coming up soon anyway.

u can use the dart & T it off, but it is better to run a deticated pump on the skimmer.
the dart pump will work better then the mag but a pressure pump would work the best.

I just hooked up my new MRC-2 and was wondering if the beckett was supossed to look like this?

Does anyone else get salt creep on the inside of the acrylic tube that holds the beckett? That won't hamper the performance will it?

Yes and it will after a while. You just have to watch for a drop in performance and then clean it out when you see one. I probably clean mine once every 3 or 4 weeks. FWIW I've noticed the salt creep building up faster since I've added a carbon container to my auto shutoff container restrictng air flow a bit.

Im using a Gen-X PCX55HP. I looked at the beckett and the two pieces don't fit together tightly, it's like they bend out away from each other at the top and bottom so theres a gap in between them.

I would say somethings not right. Can you take the beckett off, dry it out, put it back together and snap another pic? I'm hoping it's something simple, but I can't see inside the beckett...

Or just get a hold of Andy...

yeah i'll try that and get another pic. It looks like the water isn't going right through the beckett but coming out from the top and going around it if that makes any sense. Also when I squeeze the two sides of the beckett together at either the top or the bottom there is about 1/16th" gap between either side on the opposite end.

Hmmm. I wonder if there is a slight deformation on the inside of the housing or if the bomb looking thing in the beckett is inside correctly... Let us know about the pics:)
