As far as a diffuser plate I have been thinking of just adding a 1.5" PVC cap(one of the flatter ones) to the U tube mod and drilling a bunch of 1/4" holes in it. Anybody tried this?
Chris

maybe after that second elbow go from 1.5 inch to 2-3 inch pipe and drill a bunch of holes in that cap. I bet that would work even better.

Chris chech and see if you can fine a 2 in or 3 in dia strainer made of pvc thay come with pipe threads,i saw them on thread used for return on a tank .

Ok, my Blueline 55 is still too loud after I replecrd the bearing, which mad it much quieter, but I want a whisper quiet setup for my MR-2. Could I use dual 1262 Eheims ...one for each beckett?

I don't think you can beat a pressure rated pump to run those beckets. Can you move your pump out of the room? or do some sound proofing?

I have a question. My MR-2 w/ 12" extension and dual becketts isnt preforming that well. The bubbles are pretty big. I cant seem to get it to produce much skimmate. The becketts are the old style and I am thinking that this is the problem. Is it worth the upgrade to newer becketts or are the old ones the same?
Thanks

What pump are you running and how far open are the air intake valves?

You can close your air intake valves fully and see if there are still bubbles being made in the skimmer. If there are, then you know the injector housing are letting air in and that could be your problem and the new style injector housing will cure that.

I am using the PCX-70. The air valves have to be barely open for the bubble size to be small enough. Yes, when I close the valves completly, there is still alot of bubbles in the chamber.

With air leaks on the injector housings, it will be very hard to get the skimmer to skim consistantly. I would get new injector housings.

I agree with Ereefic... With the set up you have, you should be skimming like mad and displaying a proud MRC smile:D

This is my water level with the air valves closed all the way. Sometimes it seems to be doing pretty well then it wont work for a week.
