just picked up some at walmart and was wondering how to dose, it is the powder for in the 16oz container. i have a 75 and a 29 i was looking to dose. help would be great.

You don't want to raise the pH more than .2 per dose/day. So start with a teaspoon mixed in a gallon of water in the 75. This is added over the course of at least an hour (which a not really slow). Wait a couple of hours and see what you get. Go with 1/4 of that for the 29.

We use about a tablespoon per 125g. But we worked this out through slowing raising the dose til it worked out to a raise of .2 a day.

this is for calcium mostly correct? i have about 90gal with the sump and what not on the 75 set up and the 29 is about 40 with sump as it is a qt/frag tank.

We use Mrs. Wages too. Start with a little and work your way up. It's better to go slow than overdo. We add the lime in the morning when the pH is lowest and measure again the afternoon to make sure it's at the right pH. Watch your KH it can get quite high if you dose everyday. Another reason to not overdose.

lime will give a balanced ca and alk at the same ratio that it is used in calcification. Provided you start with appropriate levels of each, and depending on your calcification demands, it can be the only ca and alk supplement you use. At a certain point in the maturity of the tank, it will be outconsumed by your tank and additional forms of ca and alk supplement could be needed. But again with some form of balanced ca/alk additive.

To get the most ca/alk from your limewater, you can use up to 2 teaspoons per gallon to get the solution to saturation. If you find this is still not enough you can spike it with vinegar and get up to 3 teaspoons per gallon. The vinegar amount to use for this I do not recall at this moment though.

So start with a teaspoon mixed in a gallon of water in the 75.

well dr, if salty said this and what you said it is completly different so who is correct or am i misunderstanding?

Oh, and to get the impurities out which occur at saturation, it is best to make a saturated solution, then decant off the clear water and dilute that to whatever strength you desire. Unless you start off with saturated already. It is best to slowly dose it throughout the day and or use it in an auto top off system for all your evaporation replacement.

well i am in no way being rude i am just trying to get the general consensus here how would you dose if you dont have a auto top off on one of the tanks then?

i used a gallon jug and mixed it with some distilled water to one hefty teaspoon and set it up like the DIY page instructed to do, thanks for the help doc, what you reccomend as how to increase the quantity og the lime as far as more teaspoons to one hallon drip set up?

well i was using the ESV-BIONIC for all things prior to this but from what i see this is "mrs.WAGES is a sub for both the CALCIUM and the ALK portion of what the two part ESV would supply.

was using the capful of each a day part 1&2, the measuring cup that comes with the solution if you are familiar with the componets of it, now that being said that is what i was using in the 40 gal tank setup i had as well prior to setting up the 90 gal system so i am not sure what the new tank is consuming, i was using that as a guideline to start with and then slowly increase the dosing of the two part, as the is more and whatnot in the 90 not sure of how to increase with the two part. i can say this that i used a one gaalon milk jug with one big tablespoon of the lime and since 2:30 yesterday afternoon until now there is still a little over half of the container left to go as it drips slowly.

the lime you are refering to, and if that is the case it gets clogged alot. after each gallon had been dripped i will flush the hose with freahwater. as i plan on using this as a top off as well. do you think that well lets say that if it takes a day and a half to drip one gallon or so is it safe to continue to drip i heft tablespoon in each gallon of RODI water that i plan to drip?
